AES SEDAI BIOGRAPHY

Kithra Sedai, Sister of the Green Ajah
Mistress of Novices

My name is Kithra Doran, an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. I was born in Camail, a fair sized and independant village south of Shienar. My father was a blacksmith of good repute, a plain, but fair and honest man. My mother was Shienaran by birth, who left her own home and family to be with the man she loved.

Of the five children my mother bore, only 3 survive. One of my sisters was killed during a Trolloc raid, while my brothers both followed their hearts and and went to Fal Dara in the hopes of joining the Lancers. One perished during the many patrols sent to scour the surrounding area of Shadowspawn, a Fade’s poisoned blade taking his life. The other continues his rise through the ranks.

I first felt the stirrings of the One Power just after my 13th name day. For three years I tried to hide both from myself and my family what was happening to me. One cannot hid from one's fate however, and mine was soon rudely thrust upon me. While returning home one evening from an errand to a home on the outskirts of our village, I was set upon by three wanderers who had come through our village. I had never considered myself defenceless until that very moment. The fear and anger combined within me, and any barriers I had raised came crashing down. Not knowing what I was doing, nor caring, so long as it freed me from them, I lashed out. The flows of Air were meant to throw them from me, not kill, yet even so, one of the men died of a broken neck, while the other two stared in shock for a moment before running off, cursing about wilders and Tar Valon witches. No longer could I keep the changes secret. My parents, saddened and yet somewhat proud, sent me off on my way to Tar Valon with a merchant's caravan soon after.

Through many years of training and learning, I was raised to Aes Sedai, and chose the Green Ajah, the Battle Ajah, following in the footsteps of my friend Chiya Sedai. Together we roamed the land, aiding those we could with whatever skills we had and forever on the lookout for Shadowspawn. Together with Joseph Gaidin, Chiya’s Warder, and my own, Tarn Gaidin, we four forged a lasting friendship and closeness which was matched only by our determination that the Dark One would not gain the upper hand. Through ambushes and battles we survived, working as a team, our thoughts and actions almost those of one.

The death of loved ones was no stranger to me, but one of the worst by far was the day Joseph was slain, the day I saw my friend and Sister Chiya Sedai brought to her knees. That day a light went from her eyes, a gleam which had for so long been a part of her. I mourned for her loss, for both of them and prayed for the day that somehow, somewhere, my elven friend would be made whole again. She returned to the Tower and was eventually named Amyrlin Seat. This gave her a renewed purpose in life, and she promptly called me back, offering me the position of Mistress of Novices. The opportunity to train and guide those who would someday succeed us in the neverending war of Light against Dark was one I could not refuse, and so Tarn and I made our home once more in the Tower.
