"Iguana" frigate intelligence report.
Star Fleet Intelligence (SFI) has given this report a 50% reliability
rating.
Update: In 2374, Starfleet engineers were permitted to examine several Gorn vessels including a mothballed "Iguana", as part of a technology exchange program. The engineers found that this type of vessel is called "Hchoss tchs'chra'uss", (translation: "Little hairy creature with sharp teeth and claws"). SFI Has upgraded this report to a 95% reliability rating.

About Ship: The Iguana frigate was a fairly large patrol vessel used by the Gorn between 2247 and 2285. It was the first Gorn vessel to incorporate an early form of multifunction phased array into its hull structure, a technology that was, at the time, considered experimental. The entire hull served as the main sensor, deflector, and tractor array. The forward structure housed a dual supplementary sensor array and a navigational deflector, features that were finally omitted on the Megalosaur heavy cruiser.
The Iguana performed light research duties, patrol, and escort functions. While it was fast, it was not very agile. Combat tactics used a hit-and-run strategy, taking advantage of the Iguana's speed and minimizing it's lack of agility.
The Iguana was heavily-armored for a vessel of its size, and its X-ray lasers packed a considerable punch. It's laboratory space was limited, however, and the Gorn eventually constructed a research vessel to supplement the Iguanas. The Iguana was replaced by a more advanced frigate in 2285. Several Igianas were demilitarized and converted to transports, but there are few still in service.
