"19th Dimensional Nervous Breakdown"

I picked this up in my continuing quest to get Alan Moore's entire SUPREME run and I wasn't disappointed in the least.  Moore turns in yet another fun, fun, fun story and Sprouse and Gordon deliver some wonderful art, too.  Do yourself a big favor and hunt down Moore's SUPREME.  I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Supreme puzzles over Judy Jordan's mindless body, rescues the Mirror Villains from Billy Friday and encounters the comic book character Omniman amd the mischievous imp Emperus.

Darn it, why doesn't anyone else make comics like this anymore?  Extremely well- written funnybook yarns with good art and such wonderfully unique plots?  Well, besides SAVAGE DRAGON (Hey, who'd like to see a SUPREME/SAVAGE DRAGON team-up ?  I know I would.) . . .  I absolutely loved the script in this issue.  The dialogue on the second and third pages was just wonderful.  I especially loved the conversation between the Mirror Villains, Suprema, and Supreme.

The inclusion of an even more fictional charcter like Omniman into the mix of weird and wonderful of SUPREME was wonderful.  His dialogue was great for some good laughs and it was interesting to see a foe of Supreme's caliber for the Big Guy to fight.  Emperus was another wonderful contribution to the SUPREME mythos, a nice mix of Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyplyz (or whatever).  Amazingly, though, he isn't as annoying as either one !

Finally, a few of the ideas Moore unfurled in this issue, the Mirror -Sky and Supreme's unique method of defeating Emperus (semi -logical, too), were sheer brilliance.  Much of the stuff seems to be inspired by the Silver Age, but Moore makes it all work without seeming silly.  Amazing.

Sprouse and Gordon's art and Rife's coloring were also good.  Sprouse and Gordon captured all of the charcters perfectly, and the splash page image of the Mirror-Sky took my breath away.  Rife's coloring was also quite sharp and accentuated the pencil and ink art perfectly.

The sole bad thing about this comic is that they aren't being produced on a monthly basis anymore.  That's a real shame.
