Kona the Blademaster

Kona came to Haven when he was 5 years old. His mother and father moved from the Northern lands in seek of a better life. Teltook, Kona’s father bought a small farm several miles outside of Haven. For three years the family struggled to make the land produce a crop. With the rocky soil and drought, Teltook was forced to take work in Haven at the local mercantile.

With Teltook gone, Kona found himself spending most of his free time in the forest. Kona began dreaming of the day that he would become a soldier. Kona spent most of his time fighting imaginary battles with the evil legions.

One day while playing in the forest, Kona found himself being watched from a distance. Stopping what he was doing, Kona approached the onlooker.

“Who are you?” Asked Kona. The reply was “I am Roald the great!” This chance meeting in the forest was the start of a life long friendship between Roald and Kona.

As the boys grew older more time was spent in Haven. Neither Kona nor Roald cared what people thought of their friendship. Kona the human and Roald the elf were not blinded by the petty difference between races.

With his friends gone to work on apprenticeships, Kona decided to join the guard. His life dream was to become a soldier. Kona soon found that the guard thought him not worthy to join their ranks. Because of his numerous mischievous deeds, Kona was looked at as untrainable.

Rejection from the guard was the best thing to happen to Kona. Several days after being turned away Kona struck out looking for a master to teach him the art of combat. Within days of beginning his journey Kona met Lotar. Lotar recognized the determination in Kona and took him as an apprentice. For one year Lotar worked Kona from dawn until dusk shaping the rough young man into a warrior!
