Shanks graduated in 1994, he performed at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, where he acted in five productions over two years. He made his film debut in "A Family Divided," which also had Don S. Davis in it. He has also acted in "Call of the Wild." Shanks has also had guest star roles on television shows, "Commish" and "Highlander." He has also filmed a role in an episode of the "Outer Limits," Called "Mary 25." |

"Daniel is a dreamer, an idealist. He's driven to search out the best in people and he has a very romantic viewpoint when it comes to History, life, love and people. He's a consummate optimist. He's surrounded by military people, so he looks like a pacifist." "The study of History is fascinating to me. The study of people and cultures has always been fascinating, to me." Michael, finds "Daniel's Wardrobe" the most intriguing aspect of his character. The most annoying thing about his character according to Michael Shanks, is " the whole allergy sideline I find, and have found, very annoying, very stereotypical. I think it's a generalisation that was made in the feature, that has sort of persisted, that has been trimmed back nicely. I don't mind doing it every now and again." He believes his character has developed, "I think Daniel has become more of a team player, and less of an outsider than he began as, by the nature of the growing character relationships. I stress that his attitude toward violence hasn't changed, though his involvement in the action seems to have increased. But I don't think his beliefs or genuine sensitivity towards the subject will ever change." "I'd say a lot. The role isn't a huge stretch for my own personality, but there's other facets of Michael's personality that manage to stay away from the character -- gratefully!" |
