Anna and Mara had taken at least a month to buy everything they needed and to get everything perfect. They cleaned the whole basement, which at the time was mainly gathering up dust and cobwebs, passing the vacuum a few dozen times and throwing out almost a truck full of junk that was lying around. Once they had finished the cleaning they went on to decorating, orange and black ribbons and balloons hanged from the unfinished ceiling and around the house support beams. A fake skull surrounded by fake cobwebs and spiders decorated an old desk, the room was lighted by black lights and small flickering candelabra lights, the smoke machine they had rented would serve to keep the guests from seeing the cement floor. Fake tombstones were placed here and there, and all of the real cobwebs had been replaced with the store bought ones.
The party was going to take place on Halloween night, and everything was set.
Two days before the actual party Anna arrived at school early, for once in 9 years, so she could hand out the official invitations to the party. Of course all of her friends had been informed of the party in advance (not that they really needed to be, since this was a yearly occurrence) but the details had been sketchy at most. The first person she handed an invitation to was Cat (Catherine) Langley, who she had just happened to see that morning. Cat had shoulder length dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and was only slightly taller than Anna. Cat had been Anna's friend ever since they could remember; they had fights before but always managed to have a great time no matter what the situation. They could make the best out of any situation. It was a rare occasion for the two to see each other at school since Anna didn't have any classes with Cat and she was always late to school in the morning so didn't get to see her then either. Unfortunately since Anna had other invitations to give away she couldn't spend much time talking to Cat.
On her way to her locker Anna spotted someone else who was on her guest list, Emma Townsend, 'Em' had been Anna's friend for 3 years now. Although they never really hanged out together things wouldn't be the same without her at the party, after all 'Em' was their best source for gossip and entertainment. Em had short strait brown hair, hazel eyes, was about Mara's height and loved any and everything about Egypt. Once she handed the invitation to Em, Anna quickly said goodbye and went on her way to her locker.
Anna was stopped once again when she ran into Jane Davies. A friend that Anna had made in second grade. Anna and Jane had been friends pretty much on and off when they were young but lately they were getting along pretty well and hanged out a little more. Jane had dark blue eyes really short black, dyed hair the freckles on her cheeks were mostly faded and she was the only friend Anna had that was shorter than her, although the difference wasn't noticeable unless it was measured straight.
After having handed out the invitations to Cat, Emma and Jane, Anna stopped in her tracks once again, she found it very odd that she was able to actually give the invitations to the girls personally since she usually never saw the three during school hours, but that morning she had proven to herself that anything could happen, after all she had arrived early at school that morning for the first time in.... well 9 years.
After her two morning classes Anna made her way to the high school's cafeteria where she sat down with other girls that she usually hanged out with. Once she found a seat she handed out an invitation to Lindsey Connor, Heather Watly and Francine Besch. Anna had made friends with them just a year ago but it seemed like they had been friends for ages. All three of her friends came from out of town but it wasn't all that far away maybe just an hour drive or something of the sort. Lindsy was a really outgoing kind of girl she wasn't nervous when it came to making presentations in front of a group of people in fact it just came naturally to her, she was real easy to get along with and never really judged anyone harshly, she also happened to be the other source of gossip and life of the party. Lindsy was as tall as Emma and Mara, her dirty blond hair was curly, her eyes were a very pale shade of blue, and she always had a smile on her face and loved to make jokes. Heather on the other hand was more of the shy type, she pretty much kept to her group of friends although she never was against change of any kind, she loved books and could read a 800 paged book in a matter of days, depending on if she thought the book was interesting or not. Heather had just recently cut her long brown hair and it was now layered and went past her shoulders and her eyes were dark brown. Francine was pretty much the opposite of Heather, Francine was never the one to not speak her mind, she was blatantly honest, sometimes to the point of hurting someone's feelings, but she never meant any harm. Francine had tanned skin mainly because she had been to a tanning salon, her straight light brown hair had blond highlights in them and her eyes were hazel.
The last people on Anna's guest list were two of her best friends. Mara and Nancy Elmers. Nancy had short blond hair and her eyes were a bright blue and her skin was also pale, although it wasn't as pale as Mara's. Even if Nancy and Anna had been friends for only a couple of years Anna, Mara and Nancy did everything together. Every chance they could get they got together. In the 8th grade they were even known as the three musketeers because where ever they went they were always together. They always managed to have fun though and their outings were something that Anna cherished.
