People tend to forget. Short is mans memory. It was not long ago since the last people were lost. But now the beings of the forest are but a veiled memory shrouded in mist. We call them fantasy but I know they are there, I've seen them....
In the 19th century during the romantic period, people started to get interest in folkmusic and folktales. The 9th century was the intense fairy-folk age. Many of the folktales were put in a timeless sort of medival age but the sayings were happening at the moment. They were living then as they still are today, however, today people have desserted the forests and started to misstrust. Still they are ther, in the dark forests of Sweden, the Swedish beings.
They are not nice, they are not beautiful, but the are mighty!
