Iam a nice guy, but the X-Files are wearing me out...
Who doles out cellphones with no questions asked?
Who anxiously waits for news when they land in the hospital...
...then visits them at their bedsides?
Do they notice the flowers I bring?
I push their wheelchairs....
...and act as their nurse.
What do I get in return?
Second hand smoke.
Dirt on my hands.
Gut-twisting tension.
Nosebleeds.
Rib bruises.
Gunshot wounds.
Tubes up my nose.
Pokes in the eye.
Nanocytes and Clogged veins..
Flying specs.
Chokeholds..
Standoffs..
Exhaustion and pain.
Pistol whips
Did I say gunshot wounds?
I even lost my wife...
It will be a while before another woman warms my bed.
I do it all for them, but what do I get in return?
Sometimes, he helps me when I limp.
At least, she is there at each hospital...
A kiss here...
A smile there...
I am sooo easy...
