Some leaves and fruits should be placed around and upon the altar. The fruits will be eaten at the end of the ritual. A cup of wine should be placed on the altar before the image of the Lady. A large candle should be placed at either sides of the altar. A broom (old-fashioned, if possible) should be placed to the East of the altar and a pile of leaves on the West side. You should take a cleansing bath before the rite. When ready, meditate for a while. When ready, take the broom and trace a circle beginning at the West. When done, proclaim:
As it was at the Time
Of the beginning,
So it is now!
Take the four symbols of the elements, presenting them each in turn over the altar, saying for each:
Goddess of the fields
And God of the hunt,
All power of the elements is yours.
At this time you can do your own additions to the rite. When ready to close, rap the wand five times upon the altar and say:
The color of bracken does appear, as
the swan flies south.
Time passes, and I am here; for the
sanctuary I have built
Shall be about me, in spirit, for all seasons. Blessed Be!
Put out the candles and swoop the leaves with the broom.
