THE 20TH CENTURY RESPONDS TO MERLIN

				If there is no illusion,
				I am not impressed-
				if the magic is magik,
				it is its own explanation;
				but if it's a trick-
				be it slight-of-hand
				or grander-
				I can look for wires
				and, failing to find them,
				admire the skill of deceit.

				Miracles and amazement
				are not always coincident-
				get to know
				your audience, old man.
