The Baltimore Naval Division uses many different unit designations for organizing its troops and ships. The smallest unit designation is the squad. A squad consists of either 5 UnderSea Combat Specialists (Oscars) or 10 shipboard soldiers, usually commanded by a ensign or 2nd lieutenant. A platoon, usually the largest shipboard troop compliment other than embarked army units, is 4 squads commanded by a full lieutenant. The smallest ship unit designation is the squadron. The squadron is the unit designation for either 3 Frigates, 5 Clippers, or 10 Scorpios. Depending on the ship type, the commanding officer will usually be either a Commodore, Captain, or Commander, respectively. A flotilla is two squadrons of any ship designation, always commanded by a Commodore. Any force that is three squadrons or larger is considered a fleet and is always commanded by either a Vice-Admiral or an Admiral, depending on the mission.
Navy personnel use essentially the same equipment as the rest of the BDF. The majority of their navy equipment is the functional equivalent of their Coalition Navy counterparts, with stylistic changes being the only difference. The only really different piece of equipment is the naval body armor. Standard for all personnel is a light full environmental body armor. It has 40 MDC, integrated flotation devices (no penalty to swim), and a 2 hour oxygen supply. It has attachments for oxygen bottles (additional 4 hours supply) and a water jet propulsion backpack. Rather than use body armor, Oscars are equipped with a knock-off of the Orca-50 power armor. The Oscar version is functionally equivalent, but has two detachable mini-torpedo/missile launchers that attach to their legs.
