Why I love the SD-1!

(Continued)

{Super Overdrive!}

The tone was unbelievable! Every position of my 5-way switch brought forward wonderful variations of tone! The SD-1 let the Strat's tone ring through while adding a touch of overdrive that was simply awesome! Even my pal was moved to comment on how good it sounded.

The bottom line is that the SD-1 is meant to be played with tube amps, baby! I love the sound so much that I don't plan to buy a Tube Screamer simply because I am so happy with the SD-1. It's likely the most inexpensive BOSS pedal on the market (unless your shop is still trying to clear out those Limiters), so give it a try if you're looking for a warm and wonderful overdrive tone. It seems to work best with Strats, but that's just my opinion.

Bonus: I've also discovered that if I set the SD-1 in front of other overdrive/distortion pedals, it often adds a nice "smoothness" to the overall tone. For instance, I think I get a better tone from my Metal Zone, and the SD-1 also added warmth to my DS-2. I don't think the SD-1 is leaving my carrying case anytime soon.
