Chapter 16: A secret plan
"Hi, Luna-chan."
Luna looked at the priest as she entered her office. "How was the meeting?" It sounded like a casual question, however the answer had implications for many hundreds of persons.
"The Knight has devised a scheme for the next part of our world domination." said Xellos descending to the ground.
"It did what?" exclaimed Luna.
"It has it all on paper, I'm going to try to get a better look at them." Luna looked Xellos in the eye, this was going to be dangerous. "Should I tell Amelia?" she asked, showing weakness would not help him or anyone.
"It's not necessary, if I come back safely, there would have been no need to worry her, and if I don't... she'll find out soon enough." said Xellos all the while smiling, as if it were all just some funny joke. He leaned closer and kissed Luna on the cheek.
Instinctively she embraced him: "I know you'll be back" she said softly as she felt his arm around her.
"Bye sis." he kissed he cheek once again before disappearing.
Joker till the end. thought Luna before she got busy, she had to finish translating this spell. But that was just an excuse, she didn't want to think about what danger Xellos was getting himself into.
Xellos walked through the dark corridor, approaching the room the knight had hidden the plans in. He didn't dare teleport, someone might detect the magic trace. It was dark, but his sensible Mazoku eyes could see everything clearly.
Xellos finally reached his destination, a black door. The door was closed with a protective spell, but it was no difficulty for him, his specialty was knowing secrets, especially the ones no one ever wanted him to know, therefore he usually just stole them.
Xellos looked to both sides of the corridor before entering.
I might as well take a look... thought Kaana, she had been following Xellos because she had known that sooner or later he would want to unveil 'this' particular secret. She didn't have to worry about Xellos sensing her in the room with him, she was stronger than him. She lived on the power of the Hellmaster who was much stronger than Xellos' mistress Xellas. Kaana could easily mask her presence from him.
Xellos walked inside the room, not noticing Kaana slipping in behind him. The room was empty except for a table, on it the closed folder he had seen in the Knight's hands that same day.
Xellos walked closer and with his gloved hands opened the folder and looked at the papers inside. This is too easy... Xellos thought realizing the truth in the words upon thinking them. Xellos held the papers in his hands, they were all blank.
Xellos opened his eyes.
"Oh shit!", murmured Kaana behind him, betraying her presence.
"It's a trap...!" cried Xellos.
