Description Background
A hulking, bloodthirsty brute who loves nothing more than the glitter of newly-aquired gold in his ship's hold and watching captured vessels go up in flames. He is ruthless in ship's discipline, lashing crewman and officer alike with a cruel bullwhip and making horrific examples of those who would dare challenge his laws. He is notably generous with rewards and sharing captured booty, however, and that is usually all the motivation his cutthroat crew needs to stay loyal. He dresses in loose-fitting scarlet silk clothes and immense black boots, swinging a barbed cutlass and cracking his ever-present bullwhip, lashing maximum effort out of the wretched galley slaves manning the oars belowdecks. Is meticulous about planning raids, and will usually only attack if he has a clear advantage. He usually tries to offer the target a chance to surrender first, as an intact vessel is more valuable than one that has been scuttled before the cargo has been captured. Has no compunctions about tackling large, well armed targets as he has a veritable fleet of smaller warships at his command. Little is known about Verillion's past, as he seemingly came out of nowhere, attacking high-profile merchant fleets and making some of the biggest captures in history. No retired sea captains or pirate kings seem to remember having an Ogre named Verillion under their command, so the name is most likely an alias. The fact remains that Verillion roared onto the pirate scene about ten years ago, quickly stifling most of his competition and striking terror into the hearts of merchant seamen everywhere, and he shows no intention of leaving anytime soon.
