Description Background
A hulking, misshapen brute, with a basically humanoid build. His skin is mottled green and brown, and his stringy brown hair hangs past his long nose, behind which two bright brown eyes peer out. He wears shabby leather breeches and boots, and his clawed hands grip a mighty battle hammer. Feared and reviled by Humans, scorned and ridiculed by Trolls, he is bitter and resentful of his situation. He violently despises any being that displays some magical ability, and his first impulse is usually to lash out and smash them before allowing them the time to cast another horrific spell on him. Caine is absolutely loyal to his employer and cannot be bribed, although he can still occasionally be tricked or confused. Caine is the product of a mad and sadistic necromancer who had the horrific ability to rearrange the very living matter that comprises all beings. Caine was formed when the necromancer physically melded a Human and a Swamp Troll together, slowly drawing out the process as long and painfully as he could, so Caine's first memories of existence are nothing more than blinding agony and endless torment. Caine spent several years in the lair of the necromancer, subjected to various instruments of torture at the whim of his master. For some strange reaon, Caine suddenly caught the fancy of his master and became his personal servant, guarding the lair and assisting (unwillingly) with the necromancer's other "projects." Finally, Caine could endure no more and fled the lair of the necromancer, seeking only to escape the chamber of horrors that had been his entire existence. Seeking others of his kind, he could find no acceptance among Humans or Trolls. Finally he was rescued from his wretched and lonely life by a crime lord known as Follaxorn, who took him on as a bodyguard, offering him food, shelter, and gold, along with something Caine had never before experienced: acceptance.
