Description Background
Soulreaper's form is normally very insubstantial and vague, but all those who have survived an encounter with him remember his malevolent red eyes and evil, fang-filled smile no matter what he seems to look like at the time. His form seems to change to fit the situation, as when he is attending to matters of state in his throne room he appears clad is swirling grey robes, and when preparing for battle he seems to be girt in an evil-looking set of black plate/bone armor. Sly, cunning, and a master manipulator, Soulreaper never lifts a finger while he can get one of his many servants to do it for him. His charisma and knack for organization allowed the formation of the Troll Nation from various wandering and squabbling tribes, and his lust for power and conquest led to a bold and very nearly successful invasion of the Dwarf nation of Paragon. Soulreaper's origins are a mystery. Several years after the beginning of the Great War between Azeroth and the Horde, Soulreaper quietly began gathering together the various wandering Troll tribes, who had previously only been fighting each other, occasionally joining the Horde in forays against Azeroth just for something to do. Using the central mountains of Khaz Modan as a base of operations, Soulreaper established the fortress of Bloodwall as his capital. Trolls from all over Khaz Modan flocked to Soulreaper's banner, lured by promises of wealth and acceptance, and plenty of opportunity for battle. When Soulreaper had amassed a considerable force, he formed the Troll Nation, a semi-independent state of Khaz Modan. Needless to say, this announcement did not sit well with Ogrim Doomhammer, the ruler of Khaz Modan. But, as Doomhammer's forces were committed to battle with Azeroth and Soulreaper had not formed the Troll Nation in rebellion, he chose to largely ignore it. The fact that the Troll Nation still paid tribute to the Horde also eased some of Doomhammer's suspicions, but not all. There still remained a great deal of mistrust and animosity between the two leaders, as was evidenced by Soulreaper's attempt to invade Paragon. Soulreaper made no attempt to inform Doomhammer of his plans, intending to show the Troll Nation's self-reliance and might. The Initially, the invasion was a success, as the Troll army crushed any Dwarf resistance it encountered and eventually occupied all Dwarven territories. The occupation ended when, plagued by logistic and supply problems (carefully orchestrated by Doomhammer) Soulreaper's army was basically starved out of Paragon. Soulreaper's sights are now set more locally, as he seeks to extract his revenge on Doomhammer and claim the whole of Khaz Modan for himself.
