What other creatures so fire mans' imagination as Dragons? From the earliest records of our race, Dragons are mentioned. In every corner of the globe, there is some representation of Dragons. Most evil, some good, all important in our religions and mythology. Even today. Were this not true, I wouldn't have this site, and you wouldn't be here looking at it!
From "Dragonheart" to "Dragonslayer" to "DragonWorld", they entertain us on the Big Screen and TV. From Anne McCaffery's Pern to the worlds of TSR's Dungeons-and-Dragons, they live in print. In the art of the Brothers Hildibandt, Boris Vallejo, and many others, they live in colour. And throughout the hundreds of websites I have found (so far), they live in our imagination. Through all these mediums, we endevour to give life to the Dragons. Did they ever truely exist? Does it truely matter if they did or didn't? Our ancestors believed they did. And because of their beliefs, we believe, in our own, modern way.
Today, some believe that Dragons exist through atitudes and bearing and a Chivelryic Code. That by carrying on Dragons' wisdom and strength of character, they live through us. Some others today believe they exist on a spiritual plane/metaphysical sort of way. They believe the Dragons are still with us, to act as guardians, guides, and tutors and will come to those who believe strongly enough and give the call. As with any such personal beliefs, it is not for others to judge, only to respect their right to so believe.
Suffice to say that, Dragons DO undoubtedly exist. In the hearts and minds and imaginations of every Dragon Lover everywhere. And, as with this humble site, we all endevour, each in our own small way, to bring them back into the physical plane of our reality. May we all "endevour to percivere" and never give up. Every new artwork, every new writing, every new film, and website brings the Dragons that much closer to living once more amoung us.
