Background

Corran started awake at the sound of the claxon. Wondering what was going on since he had just come off shift, and had been alseep all of 20 minutes. He wandered towards the closest viewport and watched in shock with several others at the massive Zentradei fleet coming out of space fold all around the planet. A few minutes later, all personel were ordered to their stations.

Corran made his way back to the CIC which he had left not all that long ago and made his way to his normal post. A few hours after arriving, he was told to go back to his bunk and get a couple hours worth of sleep. As he stood to leave, the space around the ARMD lite up with the begining of the Zentradei bombardment of Earth. Many of those blasts ripped through the few ARMD's in Earth orbit, including ARMD-07. Many were lucky and were killed instantly before they even knew what had happened. Others weren't so lucky, includig Corran.

Corran was tossed against the closest wall, causing him to open a nasty gash on the left side of his face, but he had been lucky. Most people in the CIC had been killed. Exploding consoles and flying equipment had been the cause of most. He picked himself up off the floor and tried to figure out what had happened. A few moans escaped those few still alive. Corran heard the automated computer system blurting out that all outerhulls had been breached and for all personel to abondon ship, but there was no time. He made his way over to the closest person still alive and tried to make her as comfortable as possible, knowing they were both going to die in a matter of minutes. Corran leaned against her and she against him, waiting for the end.

The end came quickly, the outter hulls already breached, completely collapsed, the inner hulls going soon afterwards and the whole ARMD following in short succession, a brilliant redish white dot across the sky that marked it's passing. Corran died quickly, his last thoughts on the pretty Corporal leaning against him and what her name was.

The only witnesses to the ARMD's destruction were those on duty in the CIC of the SDF-1 who were doing everything in their power to urge those on the ARMD that could hear them to get out, but it was a loosing effort. All personel abord the The Ranger (ARMD-07) were killed, there were no survivors.
