G1 Sideswipe

You know what, I'm just going to call every single 1984 Autobot a "classic" - because that's what they are! Sideswipe's mold is probably the best representation of a transforming toy car from that era. There's no "kibble" (the extra stuff that sometimes appears in robot mode) and his humanoid proportions are fairly realistic. I do wish the hood was die-cast, but perhaps that would've made the toy too top-heavy for the fold-in feet. Out of all the 1984 Autobots, Sideswipe is the most solid in both robot and vehicle mode. This is due to the lack of many hinged parts; most of his transformation involves sliding parts rather than rotating or swinging ones.

From what I understand, this TRU reissue was actually more readily available in Canada than the US! Which makes up for all those exclusives that never make it here, as well as the almost complete lack of G.I. Joe product! Oh wait...no it doesn't :(

However, I am glad I was able to get another one of the original "classics"! I hope that someday, Sunstreaker's mold can be repaired and the Lamborghini Brothers can battle the Decepticons together on a dusty shelf I have reserved for just such an occasion...
