G1 Inferno

TV Inferno

Reissue G1 Inferno - TRUInferno is paired up with Red Alert most of the time in the cartoon. Makes sense, as the two of them are fire department vehicles in alt mode. Inferno is a Search & Rescue specialist who often enters battle even when that isn't part of his orders. His tech spec refers to him as a powerful, heat-resistant robot with low mobility, which to me describes a transforming firetruck perfectly. His vehicle mode is excellent and really captures that 70s/80s firetruck look perfectly. I used to think of the arms folding alongside the truck mode as pretty lame, but I'm used to them now and barely notice. Plenty of firetruck details are present, like the working ladder, emergency rooflights and the coiled firehose. Displaying Inferno and Red Alert alongside in vehicle mode looks fantastic. In robot mode, Inferno is taller than most other Diaclone-based Autobots, due to his alt mode's size and the nature of the white "fin" attachments at the shoulders gives him part of his unique robot appearance. This also differentiates him from Grapple, who shares most of the same mold but doesn't have the white attachments (I think they're supposed to be some kind of hose things). He comes with a decent gun and two fists that can be changed out with wrist-socket missiles (which are portrayed as extinguishing foam nozzles in the TV show). The box is standard TRU reissue fare: good cover with DW-style art, a pixelated pic on the back and no extras. A great 1985 Autobot reissue!
