G1 Galvatron

The 2006 reissue of G1 Galvatron is great in several ways. First of all, he's finally purple! This is an important change. It has bothered me for 20 years that the toy Galvatron was coloured differently from the animation. It made me decide the toy was not good. Basically, the hatred I held in my heart for 20 years against toy Galvatron was misdirected, because it is an excellent Transformer! He's huge; bigger than Magnus (his 1986 Autobot counterpart as City Commander) and looks a lot better in the robotic flesh than in pictures. You just don't get a sense of how powerful and evil and REGAL Galvatron looks in those pictures. The original colour scheme did not help matters. Included with the purple release is a Matrix of Leadership and a chain so Galvatron can wear it like he does in the TF movie. I'm pretty sure this metal matrix is the one that was included with one of the Convoy reissues and thus can fit into Optimus Prime's chest. This is yet another reason to own this excellent reissue. Finally, the electronics are intact; they include several Japanese phrases, the classic transformation sound, and a laser blast. I'm glad Takara made this special reissue release, as it made me appreciate an excellent 20-year-old toy that I've never had any interest in until now.
