Part I Return to the Land of Fae |
I was sitting in front of my TV, half asleep, when I reached for the remote to check the baseball scores on ESPN. Earlier in the day I had been looking at the interdimensional device I had brought back from the Land of Fae, trying to decipher the symbols on the knobs.
The symbols were remarkably similar to the ones found on the ruins photographed on Saturn's moon, Titan. Could this device transport one to other worlds, as well as other dimensions? As the knobs were moved to various settings, a different group of red lights would illuminate, The strange thing was that if you duplicated the same setting, the lights would not appear the same. This led me to believe that there is no way I will ever return to the Land of Fae to visit Kira. If I activated the device I could be transported anywhere. Who knows how many dimensions there are in space and time. I set the dials back close to where they were before, not exact, but close. |

"This isn't my remote", I said as I pushed the red button. Too late. A bright flash of light seemed to float through my ceiling. Not yellow, like last time, but a neon blue. The light encircled my body and transported me to a place that looked familiar, but the colors seemed out of place. The sky was yellow with black clouds. The grass and leaves were royal purple and everything that should be brown had an eerie cloud-like appearance.

Thank god, I still looked normal. And this time, I was wearing my own clothes. The device was frozen in my grasp, so at least there may be a way to return home. Looking at these odd colors was very disorienting. I could not distinguish between the ground and water, which explained my wet clothing, although it didn't take long for me to learn the difference. The first day I may have been walking in circles. The bright blue sun illuminated everything with an eerie glow. I saw no life forms except for a few black squirrels and green butterflies. Towards the end of the day a huge white thundercloud passed overhead and a hard black rain fell for about ten minutes. The sky grew white as night approached and blue and black stars twinkled as I fell asleep.
