Lascannon
The Lascannon, or laser cannon, operates on the same principle as the smaller lasgun. The laser chambers is larger, the power buildup heavier, and the shot a single cannon blast rather than a machine gun like hail of lower intensity laser blasts.The Lascannon is designed to knock out armoured vehicles and in this role it is often known as the 'tank buster' or simply the 'buster'. Lascannons are often carried by infantry squads to deal with attacking tanks and dreadnoughts. Many Imperial vehicles such as Predators and Land Raiders mount Lascannons as their main armourment for fighting in tank battles where it massive armour piercing punch is invaluable. It can also be used against single heavily armoured foot troops where the laser will easily penetrate body armour. However, its tight focus and slow recharge capacity make it a poor anti-personnel weapon compared with a Heavy Bolter or Auto Cannon.
