Anyx Moxnyx - Raymond Gamin
Ficverse: Gargoyles - Fallen Fey
Fic Debut: "Fallen Fey"

Anyx Moxnyx was a member of the Third Race, the fey, and remained neutral during the First Unseelie War between Madoc Morfryn of the Unseelie Court and Lord Oberon of the Avalon Court.  Anyx was more content to study the differences between fey magic and mortal magic.  While similar, the practices were different, since the fey's magic was ineffective against dragons, whereas mortal magic wasn't.  His knowledge made him an interest to the Unseelie, but Anyx hated Madoc's views on mortals (i.e. that they were dirt) and refused to join.  Later, Oberon, in his arrogance, asked Anyx to halt his research, and when Anyx refused, he was banished from Avalon.

This was 3000 years ago.  While not restricted in the use of his powers like the Unseelie, Anyx took pains to avoid drawing attention to himself.  He did not want to attract the notice of the Unseelie, who now more than ever saw Anyx as vulnerable to their ideas.  Anyx continued to refuse, however.  He assumed various human identities to fit in for his continuing research -- though it was severely stunted since he did not have access to his notes on Avalon.

During the 20th Century, Anyx assumed the identity of Raymond Gamin, a nice enough man who befriended a rising executive named Anders Larson in England.  Larson, employed by Starlyte Incorporated, was fast becoming a top-level person in the company and often celebrated his accomplishments with Raymond over a few drinks.  Larson eventually moved to the United States as Starlyte relocated to New York City, and lost track of Raymond.

During the Second Unseelie War, Raymond did not become involved, as he avoided the conflict.  Shortly thereafter, however, he made his way to New York City for reasons unknown to him and rekindled his friendship with Larson.  However, he had come to the attention of one Malcolm Malakai, a sinister lawyer who apparently had ties to the fallen Unseelie Court.  Malakai hired the assassin Enoch Anderson to do in Raymond.  Anderson kidnapped Larson to get to Raymond, and shot him.  This prompted Raymond to drop his disguise and become Anyx again, unfortunately revealing his identity to Larson, his new friends, and the local gargoyle population.

Sensing their initial distrust, Anyx explained his history and asked for their forgiveness for his deceptiveness, and earned it from Larson and his bar friends.  Anyx was approached by Oberon, however, who (while he hadn't forgiven Anyx for his disobedience and insults during their last encounter) charged Anyx with preventing the return of the scattered Unseelie Court, saying that the Wyrd Sisters had predicted that the Prince of the Unseelie would gather them and bring about another war if not stopped. 1
