Walking along, after entering the building you saw at the cyberpets grove, you find a strangely marked door. It doesn't have a name, like the others did. It doesn't say visit this person or these pets. It has a symbol that you recognize to be a stylized bird. It is rising from a pyre, it's eyes blazing in defiance of the flames below it. You recognize the bird to be a phoenix. You can hardly believe that the legendary bird exists and you may actually be able to see it.
You slowly open the door and peek in. The room within is divided into separate rooms. Each has its own color scheme and many seem to be in different stages of construction. A lone man walks from room to room holding a clipboard. In the other hand, he's holding a crescent-moon-shaped staff. He seems a bit vexed as he checks things off on the clipboard. He turns toward the open door, hearing your footsteps. You look closer at him and recognize the pointed ears. You realize with a start that he is an elf. He smiles and waves you in.
"Hello, traveler," he welcomes you. "Are you enjoying everything here?" You nod in reply then ask, "Are there really phoenixes here?" The man laughs and shakes his head.
"No, not yet," he replies. "But soon. After these rooms are finished. Would you like a tour of what we've accopmlished so far? By the way, my name is Samuel. I work for Remanth." You nod eagerly and tell Samuel your name. You follow him as he walks toward the back of the room. You hear many sounds as you walk by the half-finished rooms. One seems to have a miniature thunderstorm within it. Another has strange bubbly sounds. The door feels hot as you walk by and it sounds like there is a slow river flowing inside. From another room comes the sounds of owls and crickets.
"Each phoenix species has a specific environment it has adapted to. Here, we are trying to recreate that environment," Samuel explains. "We want the phoenixes to feel at home." You nod as you walk by other rooms. Samuel continues, "There are eleven different kinds of phoenix that we know of. If you've been counting, there are eleven rooms here. My boss and I would like to take care of at least one of every species."
"Wouldn't that be a lot of work?" you ask Samuel. He laughs again and nods.
"Yes, but if its fun, its not work, right?" he answers. You smile back in reply. He stops outside a room and gestures for you to go in.
"Here is where you are starting the tour. Forgive me, but I have a lot of work to do," Samuel tells you. "You can look around by yourself or go back to the main cyberpets section. Good-bye and have fun." Samuel waves and walks away, muttering to himself about impossible deadlines.
