You walk through a door labeled with a lion-eagle creature picture on it. You recognize the gryphon that the picture represents and walk in eagerly. When you enter, you see two dragons lounging on stone couches on one side of the room. They see you and smile toothy smiles. The blue one says, "My name is Serenath. Welcome to the Gryphon Dale. Our friends Amera and Lucas are out hunting. They should be back soon. What is your name?" You answer with your name and ask who the jewel-toned dragon is.
"My name is Phaneth," he says. "What are you doing here?" You reply that you are exploring the cyberpets section. As you talk, you hear a strange sweeping sound behind you. You turn and see two gold gryphons, wings stretched, landing on the ground. The smaller gryphon is gold with lighter yellow tints under her wings. The bigger gryphon is gold, but more of an orangy-gold. He has a brown tuft on his tail instead of gold. You watch speechlessly as the two lower their wings and turn to regard you. The smaller nods once to the dragons and they seem to relax a little.
"Welcome traveler. My name is Amera. Who are you?" the smaller gryphon says. You say your name again and say that you were exploring. Amera nods her head and ambles over to the third couch in the room. Lucas sits down where he is and curls his wings around himself.
"My name is Lucas," he tells you. "What made you want to visit us?" You reply quickly and he seems satisfied with the answer. You look curiously at the four creatures and ask, "Amera, if you and Lucas are gryphons and Serenath and Phaneth are dragons, why are you all together in the same home?" Amera laughs lightly and replies, "They are my friends. They came with me when Remanth adopted me so I wouldn't be lonely. Unfortunately, Remanth can't find the place she adopted us from." You turn to Lucas then back to Amera. They look completely different even though they are the same species.
"Why do you and Amera look so different?" you ask Lucas. He smiles at you and replies, "We came from different regions. Amera came from a warmer region so her hair is shorter and brighter to reflect heat. I came from a cold region so my fur is longer and darker to trap heat." You look around the room and realize that there is a tapestry in one corner. You examine it and find it to be a flight scene. A large gray gryphon is staring at the rising sun with his wings spread out. His companion is a jewel-toned dragon. Phaneth notices your scrutiny of the tapestry.
"It's pretty, isn't it?" he asks you. When you nod he says, "Remanth had it made for me and Amera. The gray gryphon is Amera's grandfather and the dragon is my grandfather. The friendship in our families goes back generations." You smile and look at the tapestry again. The colors are so vibrant. The sunrise is the most amazing shade of pink and orange that you have ever seen. You turn to Serenath and ask, "Do you have a tapestry?" The blue dragon shakes her head and answers, "No, but I do have a painting." She shifts a little on her couch and a painting is revealed behind her. It is of a forest scene. A blue-black dragon is sitting with an elf and both are watching two deer forage for food. The elf has long silver hair and is wearing gray and white clothing.
"The dragon is my mother. The elf is her friend, Cloud. I lost my mother when I was very young to some hunters believing some stupid myth about dragon's blood. Cloud went into the forest and has not been seen since," Serenath says sadly. You express your sympathies and look at the painting again. This painting isn't as vibrant as the tapestry; it has a dark undertone. You turn to Lucas and he shrugs.
"As of yet, I have no painting or tapestry that depicts part of my history. All I have is the drawing that Remanth will create into something," Lucas says, sadly. He holds out a large square of paper and you take it carefully. It depicts a gryphon walking on a glacier. Below it, a pod of whales swims gracefully through the sea. A penguin sits on the edge of the glacier looking over.
"I won't tell you what it means until Remanth has finished with her work," Lucas tells you with a smile. You can tell already that the finished product will be very beautiful. Finally, Amera says, "I'm sorry traveler, but you must go now. We are all very tired and are in need of sleep. You can go back to the cyberpets are through that door. It was nice to meet you." Lucas, Phaneth, and Serenath nod tiredly as they wave. You wave goodbye and walk through the door.
