You follow the path marked clearly by the sign of a dragon in full flight. The dragon on the picture was like none you have ever seen before: it was all colors of the rainbow. As you make your way through the trees, you hear something large moving up ahead. Walking forward slowly, you make out the outline of a black dragon. He seems to be talking with someone in a low melodic voice.
Reassured by the kindliness in the dragon's voice, you walk forward to see who he is talking to. You see a small girl kneeling down in front of a small mound. On that mound are two small fire lizards. You clear your throat and the black dragon's head swings around. You see his belly is all the colors of the rainbow. The girl stands up, dusting off her hands. She shakes her long white hair behind her shoulders and regards you with tawny eyes. She places a hand on the dragon's shoulder to reassure him.
"Welcome, traveler," her voice sings out. "My name's Keina and this is Morpheus. He guards the dreams of our dragons and riders while I guard them. What's your name?" You tell Keina and Morpheus your name as you look around the glen. A small house sits in the corner, not far from the mound. Keina notices your interest in the small thing and chuckles.
I was exploring and I found a hold that let visitors have a fire lizard. Raku Sea Hold is just over the horizon to the north, if you'd like to visit," Keina says, pointing the way. You shake your head and reply that you want to look around here. Morpheus moves a little toward the fire lizards and you see several small paths leading to different parts of the forest.
"We have many riders and candidates here," Morpheus rumbles at you. His voice is surprisingly light for a dragon his size. You look at the nameplates next to each path as Morpheus continues, "Many people find their way here through their wish for a dragon. Remanth takes them all in and helps them get their wish. Keina and I watch over them and settle any disputes." You nod at his information and finish your circuit of the glen.
You stop in front of Keina and ask, "How did you come to be here?" Keina laughs and replies, "I wished for a dragon. I found myself here and Remanth helped me bond with Morpheus. He and I make a great team and I don't know what I'd do without him." Morpheus nods his head in agreement and rumbles, matched an octave higher by Keina's hum. She looks happily down at the fire lizards as they hum along, a pure treble. Keina holds out her arm and the blue and bronze lizards regard her quietly.
Morpheus rumbles reassurance to the little hatchlings as Keina coaxes them to her shoulder. She feeds them bits of raw meat from a bowl you notice on the ground. She has an expression of joy on her face that is mirrored on Morpheus'. She holds the bronze out to the black dragon first and says, "This is Garon. A strong and brave bronze." She lets the lizard hop to Morpheus' shoulder and turns to the blue. She cuddles the little fire lizard and says, "You're Ashe. A kind and smart blue." Keina notices your interest in the little fire lizards and hold Ashe out towards you.
"We have some refreshments if you would like some," she tells you, handing Ashe to you. "After you can visit all the dragonriders and their dragons." You nod your head gratefully and follow Keina and Morpheus to the small house. You jump in surprise as Ashe chatters at you and flies after Keina. After you rest, you promise yourself you will visit all the dragonriders.
