A true "mad genius" David Egge, 41, was a space art prodigy in the early 1980s. His works graced OMNI, Carl Sagan's COSMOS book and series, and dozens of science fiction book covers. He was also a regular in SCIENCE DIGEST and ASTRONOMY. David was unfortunately diagnosed with dyslexia and schitzophrenia, and his career faded in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Prone to outbursts and hallucinations, he spent some dark years in a mental institution.
Now divorced, older, with his mental illness under control, he is re-establishing his stellar career. Happy publishers, astronomers, collectors and fans are glad to see his return. He is a classic space artist: well-versed in the sciences and extremely talented. We're glad to see him back, too.
