A few Command for working this chat..

Note: If you enter a command while you are not in the chat window, it refers to the last chat you were in.

Commands:
A few basic commands you can enter in the text area are:

/admin server name
Retrieves administrative information about the IRC server to which you are connected. Often provides an email address for the server administrator and indicates which server administrators are online for that server. If the server name is omitted, then this command will provide information about the server to which you are connected.

/away message
The system will automatically send this message to anyone trying to message you.
It is often used to tell people that you are away from your computer.
If you no longer wish to be seen as "away", then simply type '/away no message' in the text area and the away message will no longer be displayed.

/chanserve
Using ChanServe allows the channel to be controlled without the need of an IRC bot and makes channel takeovers virtually impossible. See details here.

/cs
Usage:  /cs command|channel parameters

This is an alias, which calls to ChanServ to reduce your amount of typing. Instead of always typing /msg chanserv [parameters], you simply type /cs [parameters].

Example: /cs set #ICQHelp mlock +tn

/help
Display a list of all except hidden commands.

Helpop , Helpops , Helpserv
Usage:
/helpops
/helpop
/helpserv command

A user can send this command to get help on topics.
The message is sent to all ircops that are set with the +h mode (looks very helpful). However, if the command HELPSERV is done without any parameters or message it will simply list the #IrCQ-Net commands.

Example:
/helpops How do I
/helpServ Kline
/helpops How do I

/info
Displays information about the server you are connected to including up time, address and version.

/invite nickname channelname
Used to invite people to join a channel. The server will send a message to the user you have designated, telling them of the invitation. This is the only way to join a channel that is set mode +i.

Example: /invite residue #support

/ison nickname1 nickname2
Will check to see if one or more of the nicknames are currently logged into IRC.

Example: /ison JohnD residue nnickee

/join #roomname
Enter an existing room, or create a new room if this room name doesn't exist.

/kick channel nickname comments
Used to force people to leave a channel.
The comment field is not required but will be sent to the client after they have been kicked.

Example: /kick #ICQChatMaster Phillip Don't flood this channel

/links
This command will show all the servers currently linked together on the network.

/list
Updates the room list

/motd servername
Display the current Message of the day for the server that you designate. If you leave the server field blank it will return with the current server you are logged onto. Generally, this field has administrative information and the rules for that server.

/names channelname OR blank for all names on the server
Show all of the nicknames that are in the specified channel.

/newjoin #roomname
Enter an existing room, or create a new room if this room name doesn't exist.
This chat room will open in a new window (this enables you to have several chats simultaneously).

/nick newname
Change your nickname

/nickserve
NickServ allows users to register their nicknames for use while online. Users may reserve their favorite online name for their personal use with options to ensure that nobody else can use it. See details here.

/notice nickname OR channelname message
Sends a message into a channel or to a specific user.
Usually reserved for important messages.

Example:
/notice #ICQChatMaster Check out our new web page
/notice Phil What version of mIRC do you use?

/ns
Usage: /ns command

ns is a built in alias that calls upon NickServ. It reduces your amount of typing.

Example:
/ns register mypass JohnDoe@somehost.com /ns help

/part channelname message
The part command will disconnect you from the specified channel.
The example below would make you leave the channel #ICQChatMaster.

Example: /part #ICQChatMaster See you later.

/pass mypass
The pass command has the same functionality as the identify command used with NickServ.

/privmsg nickname OR channelname message
This functionally works exactly the same as the /msg command which is explained above.

Example:
/privmsg #webchat hi y'all!
/privmsg residue How's it going?

/quit
Leave the chat and disconnect from the server.

/server servername port
This command allows you to connect to another server using an IRC client.

/silence nick OR user@host
The silence command allows you to ignore a specific user.
For example, if a user is flooding or harassing you, the user can be silenced.
When you silence a user, all messages, notices or ctcp events initiated by that user will no longer reach you. Others see this user's messages normally.
To use the silence command specify /silence plus a user@host mask or nickname. Any user that matches that mask will not be able to send private messages or notices to you.
To remove a user from "silence", issue the same command with a minus sign "-" in front of the hostmask or nick.

Example:
/silence rowdy
/silence JohnDoe@somehost.com

/sound sound message
Sends a sound and a message
Note: The sound will only be heard by others using the chat.

Some common sounds are:
bell, laugh, gong, moo, crash, flush, knock and whistle.

/time
Display the current local time and date of the server to which you are connected.

/topic new topic
Changes the topic (if allowed)

User Modes
Usage: /mode nickname +/- ModeLetter
i Invisible: Makes a user invisible, you will not be able to see what channels this user has joined unless you are in a channel with that user.
s Server messages: Allows you to see messages that the server sends.
w Wallops: Messages set by ircops to users will be visible.

Example:
/mode Dan +isw (will be invisible, see server msgs & wallops)
/mode Dan -s (will no longer see server messages)

/userhost nickname nickname
Returns the user@host information for up to five users at a time.

/who channelname OR nickname
Can be used on both channels and nicknames.
When this command is activated on a channel it will display the users and their status in that channel. When used on a user it will show all the channels the user is in, along with other information only if one of the two following conditions is met: you are in channel with 'nickname' or 'nickname' is not invisible (+i).

/whois nick
Shows you information about this nickname

/whowas nickname
For a certain amount of time after a client has left the server you can still get information about that client. The information is the same as the information in the "whois" command.
