The negotiations had lasted well over an hour, though really hadn't truly been negotiations, but more an exchange of information between two vastly different cultures that were obviously wildly intrigued with each other.
After the truce between the Rebel Alliance and the Federation had been temporarily declared (at the moment it wasn't official) Picard remained in the briefing room with Mon Mothma and Admiral Ackbar, whilst Luke and Leia left with Troi, and Han led Sisko back down to the huge flagships docking bay.
"Well here she is Captain, the fastest ship, this side of the galaxy." Han was clearly proud of his baby. Sisko however couldn't help smirking very slightly inside as he looked up at the old, rugged looking ship. Han picked up on his immediate scepticism and was quick to add, " I know she don't look much, but believe me, she's got it where it counts." Indeed the Millennium Falcon did boast a certain charm, and whomever it was who gave out a loud animal sounding groan, from above Sisko's head, seemed to agree with Han.
"Yep that's right Chewie," Han turned to continue the line of
dialogue with Benjamin, "The amount of times Chewie and I have out-flew imperial
ships, I've lost count. And I'm not just talking about your recon or patrol
fighters; I mean the big Victory class Star Destroyers. Now what
exactly is it that I can do for you." Benjamin began to smile and raised an
eyebrow.
"General, about your hyerdrive engines" Sisko didn't have a chance
to finish his proposal, because Han knew exactly what he was after "Just point
me and Chewie to your ship..."
O'Brian had been clearly mesmerised when Chewie had handed him
the schematics for the Hyperdrive engines. Partly by the beauty of the
engineering, and partly by the hairy hulk that handed them to him. Of course Han
and Chewie were equally surprised at the replication technology. They didn't
need to find the parts, or spare pieces here and there, just feed the
specifications into the replicator and wait. Sisko and O'Brian beamed at the
thought; The Defiant would be a new ship.
