The Making of Furry Fight
It’s just like one of those Special Edition DVDs! Only without 15 minutes of logos at the beginning that you can’t bloody well skip past.
What we have here are the original, fully-coloured characters and portraits featured in the Furry Fight piccy, prior to being reduced and pixellated to fit in with the video game backdrop. None too cleverly I drew the portraits before I’d worked out how big they were going to be in the final piece, and so spent ages putting in lots of little details that were completely lost in the finished version, but still. At least now you can see what they really look like, and they’re quite pretty, aren’t they? As pretty as an enormous warty 800lb rhino can be, anyway.
Undoubtedly the trickiest parts of the colouring process were Cody’s combat trousers (hugely fiddly, but worth the effort) and, curiously, adding in the lighter colours. It’s alarmingly easy to make characters look as though they’re made of plastic by putting highlights in the wrong places, and it took a number of attempts before Drake came out looking right. That said, placing points of light on Madroar’s outfit was incredibly simple, precisely because it was supposed to look shiny.
Well, that’s about it. See you next time, viewers!
