Joshua thought today would be a good day to go camping, so he packed all the gear he would need for the trip into the mountains, so he climbed into his rusty old car that he had since he was just a teenager. Joshua thought, "Well, I have had it this long, why should I change. Besides, I really hate change."
As Joshua was leaving, he felt like something might happen if he left for his trip. "Nah, must be my imagination."
But as he got to the mountains and set up everything he would need to survive this cruel, cold environment, that he decided to enjoy for a weekend, he noticed that he forgot to pack a very important item in all his stuff he had brought with him, and that was a gallon of fresh water.
Joshua thought to himself, "Man, why did I forget the stupid water I was going to bring? I was going to bring it because of all the pollution that was suposedly in the springs and stuff in the water, or at least that's what my friend Dave told me, or was he just pulling my leg or was he telling the truth? Either way, I'm going to have to find a stream and drink some of the crappy water for myself to find out if Dave was telling the truth or not. All I've got to say is if I get sick, I'm going to kill him when I get better. Oh well, I better stop thinking and start looking."
So Joshua went to his beat-up car and grabbed an empty gallon that he could fill up with water, and started on his way. He walked what seemed to be hours, but were just minutes, but after a while, he could hear running water.
Joshua thought to himself, "This is going to be easier than I first thought," but then he saw his problem. Sure, it would be easy getting the water, but first he would have to get to it, and that would be a problem, for a big grizzly bear was fishing in the river, and Joshua could tell that the bear did not want to be disturbed.
Joshua was getting thirsty and after a few minutes, thirstier, so it was just a matter of time before Joshua's fear went away and his frustration took over, so with all the courage Joshua could muster, went over to where the grizzly bear was and screamed at the top of his lungs. The bear lifted up his head, looked at Joshua, and growled. Joshua thought "This is the end, the bear is going to rush me," but all of a sudden, the bear got up on his hind legs, growled once more for good measure, left, and even though Joshua knew it was nothing he did, he was glad the bear was gone.
Joshua was so relieved and went to fill up his gallon of water when he felt a cold shiver down the back of his spine. Joshua was getting paranoid, thinking to himself "someone must be out there spying on me, maybe to kill me, not before I get them first," so Joshua picked up a big branch the size of a baseball bat and went to look around after looking around for a few minutes he was satisfied that there was no one there and prepared to head back to his campsite, but before he left, he bent down to drink the water he fought for because he had forgotten about his thirst when he thought he wasn't alone...
The water was nice and refreshing and soothing as it went down his throat, and he was finishing drinking all of a sudden there was a reflection in the stream. It was a full moon...
Xanu looked up at the full moon and exactly when he did, pain shot through his body as every muscle felt like it was on fire, and that his flesh was burning. Xanu was hoping that no one was around to see this, because if they were, they would soon be his dinner, because he could not control his actions when he transforms. Some of the times he could, but for all he tries to do to control his hunger and to isolate himself from the world, there always seems to be blood on his body the next morning, and the sweet taste of it in his mouth as the pain got worse and he could not think anymore.
Xanu looked as the hairs on his arm started getting longer, then thicker, he placed his finger in his mouth and cut it on his sharp teeth that were growing. He sucked on his finger with zest and vigor, then he noticed that he was actually enjoying the taste of warm sweet blood, even it it was his own.
He ripped out his finger, cutting it even more, then he spit out the blood that he had a mouthful by now, but he knew it was in vain because the taste of the blood still lingered even after spitting it out, he could taste it. And he knew it was going to get worse by the end of the night, as his flesh was being rearranged and stretched so it resembled nothing from this world, and as the transformation was being completed, his scent of smell kicked in and the last thing he smelled was fresh meat. Xanu screamed at the top of his lungs, "noooooo, there was supposed to be no one here," but by the time it came out as a howl.
Xanu turned around and saw a very scared person. He knew his prey was scared because he could smell it. The one thing Xanu didn't prepare for was his victim to start running...but that was just what Joshua did.
Joshua ran as fast as he could to the stream he was just at. He knew if he got into the water, the wolf creature he still couldn't believe he saw would lose his sense of scent and he would be safe for the moment. Sure enoough, Xanu passed right by where Joshua was hiding. Joshua thought of ways to get past the wolf, but he could think of none.
He thought of his advantages, his scent was pretty much gone so it would be harder to track him; and his disadvangates, such as he didn't know the area very well and that this wolf was bred for the hunt and it probably knew the area very well for living this long out in the mountains. So Joshua thought he was well off for the moment, but he was wrong.
He heard growling getting closer and closer, and he knew he had to get away, but as he was trying to get away, Joshua slipped on the rocks and fell hard. He heard his bone in his ankle snap and he felt it slice its way out of his body so that it was sticking out where the ankle used to be. The wound that was quickly spilling out blood soon brought the attention of Xanu.
Xanu couldn't smell his prey, but he could smell the blood that was leaking out from Joshua's wound. The sound the wolf made was the sound a pack of wolves would make, but Joshua knew there was only one wolf, and that was enough for him.
Xanu pounced on Joshua like a cat would on a mouse and started ripping flesh by the mouthful, and the blood that came out because of this made Xanu more hungrier, but Joshua didn't really care. He could hardly feel anything by now because he had lost so much blood and was starting to pass out.
As Joshua was finally starting to pass out, the last thing he saw was the giant redwood that the wolf had dragged him to. He thought, "This is a good place to die." Joshua didn't see anything after that, but he felt the wolf scratching on his chest and rip something from his chest. He didn't know what, only that.
Xanu ripped out Joshua's beating heart and sucked on the life fluids that kept him alive, and with that, Xanu bit into the heart and sat down to eat his long-deserved dinner and he knew that his prey was thinking, "This is the end..."
