“Phoebe, there were eight, one didn’t make it.”

“Molly?”

“She’ll be fine, but Dr. Haskins says she shouldn’t be bred again.”

“Kath will be heartbroken she missed it.”

“Any word?”

“None. Headquarters is being very tight-lipped.”

Ten weeks later.

“I know Kath’s plan for the puppies but I thought I should check with you first Gretchen.”

“Do you want me to take Molly since the puppies can go? I know your apartment isn’t very large.”

“If you don’t mind I’d like to keep her, and one of the pups too. It keeps a part of her with me.”

“I understand."
