...there was Pat's parents. In the year of 0 AP,(1981 in the year of our Lord) Frank and Jacinta begat Pat. He was born on the 18th day of the ninth month of that fateful year. Pat was the third child in a family that would soon eventually consist of one father, one mother, three sons, two daughters. The sons were Michael Tetsuro, Christopher Yuji, Patrick Seiji, Frances Hanako, and Julia Yoshiko.(in that order) Michael, the oldest is 23 and currently a senior at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. Christopher is in his last year at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island. Frances is a now attending Ms. Porter's School in Conneticut. Julia studies at the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, Japan. Then there is Patrick, the author of this webpage. Patrick is now in his second year at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Let us go back to the beginning. In Pittsburgh is where Pat was born, yet he only remained there for several months before his family moved onto Long Island. Pat spent the next several years of his life living in a town call Huntington. His family was friends with one a family in the area by the name of Gunderman. From this family came Franny, Pat's babysitter. She took very good care of Pat. Pat's younger sister was born in Huntington, the second American born Sanda in this particular sect. When he was about five years of age, Pat and his family moved to Hong Kong, where his father was transferred. He lived there for a year, attending the British School and living on the Peak.
After Hong Kong, they moved back to Long Island, but not back to Huntington. This time, the Sanda clan set up roots in the subrurb of Manhasset, New York, in a house that they still own and use. Here, Pat attended the Saint Mary's Catholic School from first to third grade. Manhasset is where the youngest Sanda, Julia, was born. After Manhasset, Frank, a talented business man of Japanese descent, decided that he would like his children to see his homeland, so he took a job in Tokyo.
Pat lived the in Tokyo for many years. He attended first, the Saint Mary's International School, then the Nishmachi International School. He made a great many friends there until finally, after his eigth grade year, He and his mother and sisters moved up into the mountains while his father started his own business in Tokyo. Pat had thought of his friendships from Nishimachi were gone, unforetunately forgotten. But, for all of those who randomly search the web for old friends, I offer this. I offer a shout out to Tim Wilson, Andrew Galbraith, Reed Thodeson, Daniel Ulmer, Jeffery Dupony, and Mimi Kingsberg, all formerly of the Nishimachi International School. Thank you for that breif interlude, and now back to our story. For that year, Pat attended the Hokubu Junior High School. For that year not much happened except that Pat learned to speak coloquial Japanese a little better. It was after that that Pat's life changed drastically. After that year in the mountains, Pat went off to The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, just outside of Princeton.
The town of Lawrenceville is where Pat spent the next four years of his life. There he made many very dear friends,(let's give it up for Lauren, Tucker, Fanjul, Julians, the McPhe Crew [Zoila, Danielle, Nur-e, Erica, Kai-Ting, etc], Jackie Woo and the other 3rd formers [as they will always be remembered] and others past and future) met some strange people, (like Doug, Benny B, and Rob the Psycho Swimmer) had some very good times, and actually learned a thing or two as well. For those friends who have webpages, I have included links to them. I could go on for way too long about those four years, so instead I'll say very little. Let's just say that time passed.
Pat graduated from Lawrenceville as a part of the class of 2000. He was originally planning on attending Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, but things change. He was accepted off the waitlist into the University of Pennsylvania, where he chose to go instead. The summer of 2000 happened. It started out pretty frustrating as Pat spent a month in the house in Manhasset trying to get his driver's license. It took him three tries to pass the road test. In the first week in July, Pat returned home to Tokyo where he worked as a lifeguard at the Tokyo American Club, (TAC) his place of employ for the previous two summers. The summer progressed rather monotonously, working, sleeping, occasionally drinking, more working, more sleeping, etc. Pat met Julie while working at the pool and they began seeing each other. The story is much more involved, interesting, and romantic than that, but that's really none of your business. :-P Pat is now comfortably installed in his dorm room in Philadelphia where he has started furthering his education. Pat and Julie have gone their separate ways. They were together for about six and a half weeks and Pat regrets none of his time with her. Time has past and they still remain friends.
Pat began his first year of university at the University of Pennsylvania in September of 2000 (19 AP), where he shared a room with a young man name Alexander High of West Virginia. As there were only 13 people living on his floor, Pat came to know his hallmates quite well. He became friends with Gregory Cobb, Sudhir Shaunak, Ankoor Shah, and others. The year passed quickly as Pat became accumstomed to life in college. That summer, Pat returned to Tokyo and the Tokyo American Club. He reacquired his job as a lifeguard and in June he spent some time at Atsugi Airbase acquiring the knowledge necessary to secure an American Red Cross Water Safety Instruction certification. After that, Pat added a new profession to his resume. He was now a swim instructor in addition to a lifeguard. Working with the new staff was enjoyable as they were a dedicated and hard working group and though there were only afew familiar faces at the beginning, Pat made several new friends. Pat continued to lifeguard and teach swimming for the rest of the summer before going back to university again in September.
In the autumn of 2001 (20 AP) Pat returned to the University of Pennsylvania. This year he was to live on the 9th story of the building named Harnwell. His roommates numbered three this time and they all shared an apartment with three bedrooms. During the fall semester, Pat roomed with Jefferson Q. Farrell. That would be 'Q' for 'Quality'. Or so Pat was told. His other two roommates were Wei Huang and Victor Moreno, from Taiwan and Venezuela respectively.
Pat is still at large.
