BEAST MODE

Height: 4cm
Length: 11cm
Width: 3cm not counting legs
Drill Bit is a strange creature. Basically a boll weevil (same form as G1 Bombshell), Drill Bit is classified as a useless brick. Aside from the front snout, he has no joints. The body is a transparent tan with brown painted on most of it, with big green eyes and a purple snout and legs. It looks a bit like a peanut. The robot pieces are highly visible from underneath, and he has a large hinge on his butt, but stands up on his own legs, unlike most insect BW toys.

Gimmick: Fold the drill out from the front. Turn the wheel on the bottom to turn the drill. Barely a Constructicon drill unit, though it's fairly obvious this was a base for BW Scavenger's (aka Transmetal Inferno) drill arms.

TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE

Fold the drill out, fold the legs and hips back, turn him over, fold the head up, and fold the robot arm out. Fold the drill to the other side to form the right arm (a lot like TM Rattrap with the arms). Fold the leg pairs back, fold the entire bug shell down, making sure to keep the end of the shell with the hips, and making sure to push the robot head through, then lock the peg on the hips into the hole on the shell. This was after the one-step transformation was eliminated from basic sized toys.

ROBOT MODE

Height: 9.5cm to the head
Width: 5cm
Well, I'll say this- the robot mode more than makes up for the "Brickmaster" bug form. He has a nice psychotic facial expression. The head is transparent tan, and the eyes are green, and since all BW toys have the eyes as a separate piece inside the head, small green spikes can be seen going back into the head. The silver chest details are also nice, helping break up the 2-part colour scheme. While a bug leg hangs off each robot leg, if you took my advice and folded the other pairs back, they don't catch on each other. The drill forms the right arm, but he does have a left hand. While the drill is heavy, including the snout hanging off it, his balance is still good (the prototype on the cards had the snout and eyes on the drill). The right elbow is weird, cutting down at an angle where the drill attaches, messing up straight poses, but the arm is too long to point it straight down. He has 9 main joints, in the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. The snout is also poseable. The only problem is that the peg to lock the hips in place sometimes pop out of place, but normal display won't dislodge it.

Gimmicks: The drill still spins when you turn the wheel.

RUB STICKER LOCATION

Under robot chin.

OVERALL

I can't figure out why so many people knock thos toy down. There were several other BW toys which rank below this (looking at Claw Jaw...). I guess no show backing hurt, although the mould did show up in Beast Wars Second as a new character, Drillnuts, so at least he got a shot at animated glory on one form.
