At a central train terminal, there is fanfare and music. It is the opening ceremony for a new bullet train known as the Linear RFG. A TV news reporter explains that the Linear RFG is the fastest and safest bullet train in the world. TV cameras show the Control Centre, the Centre's Command Room and the interior of the Linear RFG's cockpit. The crowd is amazed. Among the crowd is Ônishi Yûki . Fire Convoy looks on from Cybertron headquarters as he speaks to Yûki. Yûki explains that a friend of his father has invited him to ride on the Linear RFG's maiden voyage. Ai interrupts and tells Fire Convoy that the three Car Robot brothers have arrived. Wild Ride, Speedbreaker and Mach Alert enter the room. Wild Ride asks Fire Convoy why they've been asked to come here. Ai activates some monitors showing footage of horrible train derailments. Although noone has been able to explain the causes of these derailments, the Cybertrons suspect the Destrongers. Fire Convoy also fears that the Linear RFG may be a prime target for the Destrongers' next strike. He then orders the Car Robot brothers to move out.
At the train terminal, the Linear RFG stirs to life and moves out of the station. The Linear RFG is full of passengers. The Car Robot brothers roll out ahead of the Linear RFG to inspect the line. Fire Convoy drives along a road parallel to the train line, keeping a close watch on the train. Gelshark flies above the Linear RFG and vows to demonstrate the Destrongers' full fury to the humans. Fire Convoy realises that if he continues to use the road, that he will be separated from the Linear RFG. He then activates the Cybertron Net, which paves a road parallel to the train.
Up ahead there is a bridge crossing over a deep gorge. Gaskunk and Gusshar are setting up a strange device when Mach Alert and Speedbreaker arrive. Mach Alert demands that the Destrongers tell him what they're doing. They tell him that they're merely testing the integrity of the bridge and that they too are concerned about the Linear RFG's safety. Mach Alert doesn't believe them and he and Speedbreaker transform to robot modes. Battle ensues.
Fire Convoy receives a transmission from Speedbreaker, alerting him of the battle that has just broken out at the bridge ahead. At the Command Room, the humans have lost contact with the Linear RFG and they panic. Fire Convoy's face appears on one of the large monitors and one of the rail staff recognises him as the Cybertron commander. Fire Convoy tells them that the Destrongers intend to stop the Linear RFG. The command staff tell Fire Convoy that the Linear RFG cannot be stopped but to do what he can. On top of the Command Centre Building, there is smoke billowing out from a pile of rubble - the communications array has been destroyed! Gildor flies out from the smoke. Fire Convoy contacts Ai and tells her to summon reinforcements. Ai summons Team Shinkansen.
At a train platform, people boarding a Nozomi 500 bullet train. Ai summons J-Five to action. The Nozomi 500 tells the station staff that he must go and asks them to look after the passengers. The train disconnects itself from the carriages. J-Five moves out and diverts from the main line using the Hyper Rail, a rail equivalent of Cybertron Net. A driver runs to the edge of the platform, speechless.
Elsewhere, we see a Rail Star 700 bullet train pulling carriages full of passengers. Among the passengers is Junko. She smiles as she tells herself that bullet trains are the best way to travel because they're fast and safe, convinced that nothing bad can happen to her here. Ai then summons J-Seven. The train rolls into a tunnel and exits without its carriages! The carriages roll out of the tunnel a few seconds later, slowing down to a halt. At the doorway that would have connected to the front train, we see Junko standing there wondering what the heck just happened.
An E4 Max type passes through a railway crossing. Ai summons J-Four and he diverges from the mani track, using the Hyper Rail system.
Grasslands make way as the Cybertron Net establishes a road for Fire Convoy to drive upon, still maintaining a parallel course with the Linear RFG. The grass next to Fire Convoy also parts as a pair of rails blazes through and J-Seven pulls up alongside Fire Convoy. J-Seven is in a very excited mood. J-Five pulls up alongside J-Seven and reminds him that the passengers' lives are their priority and that they must exercise caution. J-Four pulls up and J-Seven tells him off for being slow. J-Five asks Fire Convoy why they've been called into action. Fire Convoy tells them that the train that is running alongside them is the Linear RFG and that the Destrongers intend to stop it. J-Seven suggest jumping in front of the train and stopping it, but J-Five says that it would endanger human lives. Fire Convoy leaves the Linear RFG in Team Shinkansen's care and activates Cybertron Net and leaves them.
At the bridge, Gelshark knocks Wild Ride down with his tail. The ground opens up and Fire Convoy flies out, transforming to robot mode. Gelshark terrorises. The Linear RFG continues to roll along with Team Shinkansen beside her. J-Five contacts Yûki and introduces himself. He tells Yûki to go to the cockpit and get the train to slow down. Yûki goes to the cockpit only to discover that the drivers have lost control of the Linear RFG! He tells J-Five that the Linear RFG's brakes won't respond. The Linear RFG accelerates and begins rumbling out of control. The passengers inside begin to panic.
The battle continues at the bridge. Fire Convoy orders Speedbreaker and Wild Ride to go to the opposite side of the bridge. They transform and roll. As Fire Convoy helps Mach Alert stand up, he hears the Linear RFG approaching. Team Shinkansen unite to form their "Great Sanjûren" mode (where all three trains couple up to each other, forming a single train). United, they accelerate and catch up with the Linear RFG. J-Seven leaps off the Hyper Rail track and lands on the regular track, just in front of the Linear RFG. J-Five and J-Four land behind the Linear RFG. They sandwich the Linear RFG between themselves and decrease their speed.
Meanwhile, Wild Ride and Speedbreaker have reached the other side of the bridge. They transform. Fire Convoy and Mach Alert charge at Gelshark. Gelshark gives Gildor a signal, Gildor presses a strange button, transforms to beast mode and flies away from the bridge. Gelshark also transforms and flies away just as the bridge explodes. The Linear RFG is now almost at the gorge, much to Gelshark's delight. Team Shinkansen apply their brakes, but it fails to bring the Linear RFG to complete halt. Fire Convoy merges with his trailer, forming Super Fire Convoy. Super Fire Convoy stands in front of the Linear RFG and braises himself. He catches J-Seven and applies all his strength against the train. The train stops, with Super Fire Convoy's feet just centimetres away from the edge of the cliff. Team Shinkansen haul the Linear RFG away to a safe place. Super Fire Convoy fires at the cliff surface just below the Destrongers' feet, bringing them falling down.
After taking the Linear RFG back to the grasslands, Team Shinkansen hop back onto the Hyper Rail and head back towards the gorge. Yûki waves at them, and thanks them as they leave. At the gorge, Gelshark is cursing the Cybertrons for meddling in his schemes. Suddenly, Gigajet arrives. Gigajet terrorises to Gigatron who uses his Cutter Beam on Super Fire Convoy. Just then, Team Shinkansen arrive. J-Five, J-Seven and J-Four transform to robot modes and attack Gigatron. Gigatron transforms to Gigadragon and counterstrikes. Unable to get near Gigadragon, J-Five, J-Seven and J-Four unite, forming the giant robot, JRX. The Car Robot brothers are most impressed. JRX defeats Gigadragon, who beats a hasty retreat, with the Destrongers following behind. Super Fire Convoy thanks JRX.
J-Five, J-Seven and J-Four go off to return to their civilian duties.
From a mountain ridge, Fire Convoy watches the Linear RFG rolling along
a twilight countryside.
