Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider series of books have been much loved for many years, ever since she wrote a short story back in the 1950's.

Beginning with DragonQuest, Anne takes her readers on a magical journey to a world that is a paradise in many respects, except that it is beseiged by "Thread" a spore that eats through everything, and falls from the sky once every 250 years, for a length of 50 years.

Once the players are all introduced, the reader is lead into the politics of Pern, as the Dragonriders try to save their people from the thread that hasn't fallen in over 400 years.

Over the course of all the books, the history of Pern is brought out in vivid descriptions, and many questions answered that are posed by earlier books.

As with all these pages, clicking on the book's cover (or graphic if I don't have cover art) or the link at the end of the review will take you to that book's listing on Amazon.com.

So, let's get on with the reviews!

This edition encompasses the first three unforgettable novels of McCaffrey's epic series: Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and The White Dragon.
