Automatic Writing

     Imagine sitting in your comfortable chair with a pencil and pad.  You are relaxing deeper and opening your mind to the outside spiritual forces.  As you put aside your conscious thoughts and close your eyes, the pencil begins to move across the paper as if of its own free will.  A short time later you come back from your spiritual excursion and find you have written a legible message on the pad.  On or two words to maybe a paragraph or more.

     What happened?  Did your subconscious self write the message?  Did your super-conscious self write the message?  Did an outside force such as a wandering spirit or your late uncle Earl take control of your hand and make the message?

     Several explanations come into play here.  There is a certain amount of fraud that seems to follow all areas of the paranormal.  Automatic writing is no exception.  It would be very hard to prove that someone is not talking to a spirit if they have developed a good act.

     The writing could be coming from the writer's own imagination and if the writer honestly believes the actions to be involuntary, then it probably is.  A psychic person may be giving a good old fashioned reading and writing it down as opposed to saying the words.  the end result is the same, they are just expressing the psychic vibrations in a slightly different manner.

     And lastly, it may be an outside force controlling the message.  There are spiritual beings amongst us.  Most friendly, some not, and there are people who are sensitive to their presence.  Some may call this "Channeling".  In some manner these beings may recognize the channel that has opened up and communicate through the writer.

You Can Do It!

     For an exciting evening with your friends, (if you can call everyone "napping" exciting) call some friends over and provide pencils and paper for everyone.  Put on some relaxing music at a very low volume and have everyone sit back and relax while holding the writing implements.  Concentrate on inviting the spirits or the inner self to communicate with the group.  Take your time.

     Let nature take its course.  After a reasonable amount of time, slowly get everyone's attention and ask if anyone has any intelligent scribbles on their paper.

Note:  We recently received this interesting observation about our Automatic Writing discussion from "Linda" and it is worth adding to the page as a reminder to always protect ourselves from the dark side. 

Dear Pete,
     I stumbled across this site this morning and being an automatic writer myself, read the story provided.  I realise that someone has submitted this story but there is a concern that I have about people, without spiritual knowledge, who may read it.

     No where in the story is there any mention of grounding and protection, an extremely important aspect of any spirit communication. To invite friends around, provide pen and paper, play soft music and begin, is a really big worry - just as the ouija board has always been. One would not just leave the door to their home open for anyone to enter, and, so it is for any spirit contact, for what happens is that you are opening your aura for any spirit to enter.

     Simply dying and going to the Spirit world does not automatically give that soul wings and a change of heart. Just as there are undesirables in the physical world so to do they reside in the spirit world, simply on a different level.  It is my advice to anyone contemplating any spirit contact that they start with a prayer to The Creator and in this prayer ask for a dome of protection and a circle of white light and also ask that only the highest and the best that God can provide be allowed to communicate. 

     To not attend to this is a sure certainty of inviting those menacing spirits who do not care about your personal safety. Their time with you will be surely malevolent - and sitting with the intent of communication is the only invitation they need. The fun will be at the sitter's expense!  I thank you for reading my email.

Thanks Linda for your valuable input and reminder.  Years ago our group used the following prayer to begin each session.  I'm not sure where it came from but the Unity Church pops out when I think about it.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

          The light of God surrounds me,
            The love of God enfolds me,
              The presence of God watches over me,
                Where ever I am, God is.
