await word from LtCmdrs. Einicrox and 'n Galeda on whether they can safely
leave the cave as well. Blirb begins to take apart some of the equipment
for, as he claims, later study.

P'ronfl Rr'ecx boards the Horizon. He takes out the primary systems,
including life support, and cuts the bridge off from the rest of the ship.
LtCmdr. Nova'Song briefly loses consciousness before she can repel his
mental presence. Cassandra Burke, the captain's daughter, is asleep in their
quarters, dreaming of a harmless P'ronfl Rr'ecx. Chief Sawyer, who was
guarding the Kourosans on the diplomatic deck, tries to get to the bridge
through a Jeffries tube.

Nova'Song has the main computer core sealed off, so P'ronfl Rr'ecx cannot
access it. The warp core and fusion reactors are locked down as well. Given
his mental powers, she is worried for the empaths and telepaths among the
crew and asks Ensign Freeman to gather all of them in sickbay.

Einicrox and 'n Galeda reach the surface. The fire has died out for the most
part. Captain Burke, Dr. Biaret and LtCmdr. Porter soon arrive at their
location in the EMRV. Lt<jg> Greyhawk is still aboard, slowly coming to
again.

The Marines take off in their own shuttle and manage to contact Horizon, so
they and Nova'Song can fill each other in on recent events. Ambassador
Pendar gets a signal through to the bridge, offering his and his aides' help
in fighting P'ronfl Rr'ecx, who is taking control of an increasingly larger
part of the ship. Nova'Song will meet them at the power distribution
junction on deck P1.
