Robert O'Brady, former OPS, is on Earth visiting his father in the hospital. LtCmdr. Arkanis, Lt Cady and their SpecOps team are reassigned to the USS Renegade. They say their goodbyes and depart aboard the team's runabout. Soon after, LtCmdrs. Davis Porter and Gendry Lockhart, husbands, arrive. Lockhart will be the new ship's counsellor and chief diplomatic officer. Porter, a scientist and part of the team that designed the Threin-class' engines, is assigned as the new CEO. They meet with Captain Burke and LtCmdr. Nova'Song. Porter befriended Nova'Song during their time together on the design teams for the Threin class. After the meeting, Lockhart talks briefly with LtCmdr. Einicrox about the security arrangements in place for Ambassador Pendar and his delegation, and he passes by sickbay to meet Dr. Biaret and get a quick physical. Biaret is still set on giving Starfleet another try, but she isn't sure whether she'll succeed in her new assignment. When her shift is over, she unwinds a bit in the garden between the senior officers quarters. Nova'Song joins her and helps her take another step on the way to a recovery from the pains of her past. Porter heads to engineering and tells former aCEO Lt Reyan Jolan that he can keep most parts of the job, since Porter has no desire to actually be CEO. He'd much rather continue his research. Nova'Song knows this and offers him the use of three of the science labs, as long as his research work doesn't interfere with his CEO duties. Jolan is afraid he won't be able to work with his new boss. Lt. Dayrider, his only real friend aboard, consoles him a bit. Lockhart checks in with his secretary, Alicia Breeze, and sets her to work on decorating the counsellor's office and reception area to his style. The Horizon arrives at Athel Loren II and LtCmdr. 'n Galeda fires up all the ship's sensors. The Woodland Foundation's team's automatic sensors on the surface remain unresponsive. The stasis field makes it impossible for the Horizon's sensors to see anything of the team's camp site. Sensor readings and communications from outside the system are also affected. No sensor problems were reported by the Foundation's team. Porter, 'n Galeda and Lt Greyhawk, the new chief of ops, discover that the sensor problems are due to an interaction between the stasis field and the D-warp field from Porter and Lockhart's shuttle. Burke decides to send down several teams, setting up a base of operations on an elevation halfway between the Foundation team's camp and the stasis field. He will lead the away mission himself, while Nova'Song stays in charge of the Horizon. Einicrox, CWO Walker, Ensign Davidovitch, Ensign Tschobe and several other security personnel head down by shuttle to set up the actual base--dubbed Valley Forge--and ensure its safety. 'n Galeda, Greyhawk and Professor Arahan travel down in the Shackleton, the new science survey vehicle. Porter follows with some bulky equipment in a cargo shuttle. Burke, Ensign Ciate, Lockhart--who can hardly stand atmospheric flight--and some additional personnel take the new multi-terrain/multi-role vessel. Einicrox doesn't approve of Burke's leading the mission and she is determined to let nothing happen to him. Biaret heads down in the equally new emergency medical response vehicle Leonard McCoy. It is her first visit to a planet in nearly six years. Another new crew member arrives aboard the Horizon in the form of Ensign Lucille Freeman, the assistant counsellor under LtCmdr. Lockhart. She reports to the bridge, where Nova'Song just launched a communications buoy because of the ongoing difficulties in getting anything out of the Athel Loren system. 'n Galeda takes a preliminary scan of the stasis field and discusses his findings with Porter. The CEO wants to get to work right away, but Einicrox wants to secure the area first. Porter tells 'n Galeda he got permission from her anyway. 'n Galeda doesn't believe him, but nonetheless accompanies him and a couple of engineers to the first location where Porter will set up equipment. Einicrox goes after Porter and wreaks havoc with his perimeter alarms to make him think he's being overrun by wild animals. A generator is damaged in the process and Porter is mad at Einicrox for proving her point that way. He returns to Valley Forge. 'n Galeda thinks he is overreacting, because the generator can easily be repaired. However, Porter doesn't want to hear it. He flies back to the Horizon with a couple of engineers to get a new one. Lockhart is just being treated by Biaret for his flight sickness and he watches in silence. Nova'Song moves the Horizon some distance away from the planet to re-establish communications to outside the system. The Shackleton is put in close orbit to act as a comm relay between the Horizon and the away teams. She talks to Porter about what happened and tells him both he and Einicrox were at fault. She says he can stay aboard if he wants to. Burke tells Lockhart what happened and the counsellor offers to help seal the breach between his husband and Einicrox. For lack of any further counselling or diplomacy to do, he joins Biaret and Greyhawk in the MTMR to take some samples from the nearby flora and fauna. Two security officers, Ensigns Joanna Rickard and Ollie Llewpan, go along. Einicrox oversees the rebuilding of the equipment camp near the stasis field. The generator is repaired. Burke has a talk with her about her actions against Porter, making it clear she was wrong and reminding her she should stop acting on impulse. Later, Burke reassures Arahan the conflict won't compromise the rescue mission. One of the team members finds a PADD containing Dr. Naestra's science log. 'n Galeda breaks the password and gathers Burke, Einicrox and Arahan in the EMRV to discuss its contents. The records relate the discovery of the stasis field and the onset of trouble with the scientific and communications satellites. Shortly after Dr. Naestra led a small team to the stasis field, an earthquake struck. There were several signs that it wasn't a natural one. The team entered a cave near the field, where they found a control centre. The last log entry ends abruptly with an attack on Naestra and his team by unknown forces. Rickard is attacked by a flying dinosaur-like beast and it carries her up a tall cliff, despite the injuries Lockhart inflicts with his phaser. The wind is too strong for Lockhart, Biaret, Greyhawk and Llewpan to follow her in the MTMR, so they have to climb up. A second dinosaur appears, drawn in by the first one's cries of pain. It goes after Greyhawk. He falls down a couple of meters, but is saved by the belay line. Biaret wants to climb down to help him, but there's something wrong with the gear and no one can go up or down anymore. She calls the base camp for help. Ensign Abby Gibson, a forensic scientist, joins the officers on the planet to investigate the Woodland Foundation's base camp and their camp near the stasis field. Burke takes the EMRV to the cliff. Einicrox and a medical team are with him. He informs Nova'Song of the situation and asks for Porter to return, since Arahan and 'n Galeda need his help on the stasis field. Porter does return, but he beams directly to the EMRV because he's afraid Lockhart might be injured. Biaret unties herself from the belay line and descents to Greyhawk's location, where she ties herself in to his line. He is unconscious and injured, but not critically. She stabilizes him as best as she can. The first dinosaur picks Rickard back up and carries her into a cave. Lockhart unties himself from his lines and climbs up the rest of the cliff to go after her. ************************************************* ************************** Condor Squadron Commander ************************** Branch Admiral Earle Hayes. ************************** ***************** DS101 CO: Captain Alyza GM: Eddie ***************** NO REPORT SUBMITTED ************************ ************************************ USS NIGHTINGALE CO: Captain Pol Canon GM: Doug ************************************** The NIGHTINGALE unexpectedly receives a message from the Frian Prime Minister expressing gratitude for their recovery efforts, and with a sudden, and suspicious, change of heart, invites the crew down to the planet. He invites a diplomatic team to his capital as well as medical/science team to assist in transporting the wounded from the SILVER SWAN that 'GALE is carrying, to a military base hospital just outside of the capital. The SAR teams onboard the USS FLEMING and the USS MAHONEY finish searching the wreckage of the STAR BIRD for remains and return to the NIGHTINGALE to assist in the identification of said remains. This is a massive joint venture based out of the main Shuttle Bay by the Marines, Medical, and Science. Unable to obtain results that did not show mixtures by the computer laser dissector instruments, they fall back onto older fashioned manual chemical extraction methods, which the new CSciO Austin is kind enough to prepare. Unfortunately, he sends it off with the Marines with no one to actually perform the extractions. Once brought to his attention, he quickly corrects the situation by sending one of his staff geneticists to help. Hanson, Syllis, Desmond, and Robert make preparations for a diplomatic away team to beam down to the Frian capital at the Prime Minister's invitation. All other personal activities are put on hold by the team members, and they make their way to the transporter room having, once again, failed to extract any further information from the two BERs. After receiving his own personal communication, Canon unexpectedly joins the team. Once in the Prime Minister's reception, Canon, and Canon alone, is invited into the Prime Minister's personal office, much to the dismay of the rest of the team. It can be hard to protect a captain, when he goes off on his own. ********************************************************** ************************************ USS YEAGER CO: Commander Rudolf Fischer GM: David ************************************ ***************************************************** *****************************************************
