He tries to negotiate the postponing of the gathering so that they have more time to locate the Sehimlaeti and neutralise the bombs, but the ambassador refuses on principle to run from the Sehimlaeti any more. He talks to Lts N'Borga and Lucas about the explosives: Lt. N'borga had discovered the makeup of the explosives used in the little black boxes the Sehimlaeti have distributed. Turns out that he can break down one of the chemicals used in the explosives by subjecting them to delta-band radiation. It's possible to flood the areas where the bombs are located with this radiation, thus nullifying them... with the unfortunate side effect that the radiation would kill anyone exposed to it. In the absence of a foolproof method, T'al goes after the problem at the source. Security had found the location of the Sehimlaeti's "base" on board - T'al and several Security officers head there to confront them. They break in, only to find one very startled Sehimlaeti agent, who had been assigned to watch the place. Everything important had been cleared out, and the Sehimlaeti at first swears that he knows nothing about the mechanism behind the black boxes. T'al begins to strangle him, out of sheer fustration - the Sehimlaeti suffers no permanent damage. N'Borga and Lucas focus on the communication devices used by the Sehimlaeti to activate the bombs. Close scrutiny and testing reveals the frequency band, and they send a massive electromagnetic pulse through this particular band. All over the ship, Sehimlaeti agents found that their detonation devices weren't working, as weren't the recievers in the bombs themselves. While this was going on, T'al and Security were patrolling the mall, looking for the Sehimlaeti agents. when they all pulled out their detonators simultanously, they stood out against the crowd, giving Security the "heads-up" they needed to act. They pounced, and managed to clean up very effectively. No civilians were hurt. N'Borga then solves the problem of the remaining bombs. Security were cleared to remove them, and they were brought to the Science lab. The explosives were broken down by the delta-band radiation, and then beamed out into oblivion, by dematerialising them, then clearing the signal buffer without rematerialisation. The Sehimlaeti prisoners were then interrogated - unfortunately, that didn't go particularly well, they had been trained in anti- interrogation techniques. T'al has another outburst at his subordinate, then storms off to find some stress-relief that didn't involve rearranging a Sehimlaeti's face. N'Borga then gets in touch to say that he had discovered something "of interest". The tip of someone's finger had been trapped inside the box when the box was closed - the tip of a Ferengi finger. They had talked to Moreg, but that had turned up negative. T'al and Brooks were in one of the not-so-numerous resteraunts, discussing the mission and T'al plans to introduce a 6:30 daily meeting between department heads. They were soon joined by N'Borga and Ta'Vern, and it was soon decided that they should have some time to relax, as a congratulations for a successful completion of the mission. They head down to The Black Hole on the lease level, to take part in the Dabo tournament. T'al spots a Juun man being harrassed, and goes to see if he can render assistance. Things quickly escalate as the attackers draw knives... Meanwhile, Captain Alyza was still stuck in the Hetgarot Embassy. Their paranoid security had made it impossible for her to leave until the crisis had been succesfully dealt with, and until there was no further immediate threat. Getting back to her office, she discovers a message from Admiral Landi, issuing a new mission order to the SB. Also, there is a go-ahead message about N'Borga's CGT. ************************ ************************************ USS NIGHTINGALE CO: Captain Pol Canon GM: Doug ************************************** ********************************************************** Hanson and Canon discussed the semi-failed mission in the Captain's ready room. They then decide to see the newly arrived Mrell. Mao'Syllis considered the `sticky-note' she placed on Dennis that said "kick me". She wondered how he would get her back. She also joked with Ensign Lister about sitting in the command chair until a shuttle uncloaked beside the GALE. It was Mrell returning from his leave. DRH Robert Thornbush, the `photonic being' and his companion Natalia B'Ker, Sanitator second class finish their date. Natalia later encounters Mrell in the shuttle bay. ************************************ USS YEAGER CO: Commander Rudolf Fischer GM: David ************************************ No Report Sent ***************************************************** *****************************************************
