In the flooded tunnels, the words one never 
wants to hear in that  situation are uttered. 
You know, the ones about something brushing 
past someone's leg? aCO Miranda Sands, CSO 
Mercedes McCarter, and CNS Logaan Woods race 
for a nearby rocky retreat from immersion in 
the unidentified creature's element, scrabbling 
desperately to heave themselves out of the water. 
Sands  safely gets out, but Mercedes nearly falls 
back in before Logaan plants his hands  on her 
posterior and shoves her back up. The ladies are 
then helping him out  of the water when a pink 
tentacle lashes out and grabs his leg! As he  
struggles against the beast's efforts to have him 
over for dinner, Sands finds  a large rock and 
smashes it down on the tentacle. The water beastie
 releases  the HAMILTON counsellor with a disappointed
 gurgle and, after Sands asks  the obligatory 
"What was that?", Logaan begs whatever 
Powers That Be for  no more water.

With space at a premium aboard the NIGHTINGALE Ma'kauran, Thayer, and 
Dalob move in with Stuart.  Settling her things in the FO's quarters, 
Ma'kauran mulls over her thought about her fellow officers.  Thayer, 
also moves in - with thoughts of her own.  Maka and Thayer spent a 
few minutes discussing various subjects and end up with Thayer asking 
Maka for assistance in updating her self-defense skills.  

The HIKARU loads a final few refugees and departs the Usari system 
just ahead of the stellar explosion.  Many millions of Usari, unable 
to find space aboard the rescue vessels, die and their planet is 
hurtled out of the system by the shockwave.
