Apparently the security head is busy with the questioning of the whole ones, though, or some other security pursuit, for CSciO Jur Lehron, left in charge by aCO Miranda Sands, orders him to take the rescue party being sent down after Sands. Realizing that he is not as well trained for such an excursion into enemy territory as Mercedes, he asks after her. Lehron says she will meet him down there if his group can't achieve a peaceful solution. Most shuttle rides are less than enjoyable for the counselor, but this one, with the constant buffeting of gale level winds, is one of his least favorite. When they file out after landing, some of his enthusiasm to escape the craft dissipates when he sees a mirror image of his last Away Mission's desert landscape; not exactly a happy memory. The security officers leave him behind as they approach Sands' wreck, phasers out. Nothing sentient is alive there, though, and one asks if they should bury Tyvek found. Woods, knowing that the environment will most likely mummify the body and that any burial effort will seriously sap their reserves of energy, says to leave him. He then redirects their efforts toward locating Sands' life signs while he reports their progress to Lehron. When they inform him of a complex of interconnected caves under the dunes, it seems likely to them all that Sands was taken into the cooler underground. A point connected to the surface, which seems man made from the readings, is located 3km away and, after flying there when one shuttle has already been shot down is shown inapt, they prepare for the hike. ********* **************************** Beaver Squadron Commander **************************** (currently vacant) **************************** ****************** USS HORIZON CO: LtCmdr James Burke GM: Ruud Visser ****************** SOXO Nathan Cady responds well to the first phase of his treatment, taking him back from 100+ to 60 years of age. When he wants to leave sickbay, he finds himself torn between actually leaving and staying with his boyfriend, OPS D'Art Storm, who has been hospitalized as well. Suddenly feeling tired from her action-packed first day on the Horizon, CSciO Abi Seldon retreats to her quarters for some much needed rest. ************************ USS ATHENE CO: Cpt Demetrius Simms GM: Currently Vacant SITREP by: Clark Goble *********************** NO REPORT SUBMITTED ******************************** USS HERMES CO: Commander Michael J. The twelve Usari ships that had left the homeworld carried over forty thousand survivors. The ships had been loaded hastily as the deadly solar radiation had began to flood the homeworld. Because time was of the essence, passenger screening had not been done and a viral illness had spread among them, killing many. When the Usari fleet initially made contact with the Vurtedions, four thousand Usari were killed when the Vurtedions opened fire. Passing near the nebula the fleet had picked up a communication signal from DS 101. Unfortunately the virus mutated upon exposure to radiation from the nebula and became even more virulent. Two more ships were lost near the nebula. Once clear of the nebula the virus stopped mutating and was brought under control, but not before three-quarters of the fleet were either dead or dying. Eight thousand Usari remained, not enough for a stable gene pool. It was more important than ever to check the Usari homeworld and rescue, at least, enough survivor to ensure the Usari genetic survival. The First Speaker hopes that thirty thousand will be rescued from his homeworld. Hakon moves his equipment into a small office aboard the HIKARU, looking forward to the mission. ************************** ********************************** USS NIGHTINGALE CO: Commander Pol Canon GM: Marc Boon ********************************** Mrell has a bad dream about Cardassia, where all the military leaders are executed.
