Logaan's objective is to get him to halt the attack on the race that shares the planet with Xark's own. Xark admits that the payloads can be remotely detonated, but the death of the pilots is something the HAMILTON counsellor wants to avoid. Logaan contacts CEO Chandler T'krn-McCarter, who has been left in charge of the ship, and asks if they can beam out the pilots. She replies that the planes are made of the same sort of metal as the local buildings and are just as invisible to their sensors. Beating his brain for more ideas on how to remedy the situation, Logaan begins to feel a pang of helplessness. Since the Away Team wouldn't even have a chance searching the city for Malaka, Mediator Minuar Calvert's daughter, if they stayed together, they decide to split up. Any split leaving only one officer with Minuar would be less able to search effectively, however, so against her better judgement FO Miranda Sands lets CSO Mercedes McCarter search alone. Miranda, Minuar, and CSciO Jur Lehron the walk to and cross the city square, lead by Minuar to a street where lost and orphaned children live. Just as they are planning how they will search the buildings and ask the children about Malaka, the Prime Minister's bombers arrive and begin their assault on Kinaresh. A nearby explosion knocks the three searchers off their feet and unconscious. Mercedes, meanwhile, has been found in her hole by her earlier torturer, the mind-invading artisan. As he looks hungrily down at her, she makes it clear that she would rather rot in that hole than be pulled out and taken anywhere by him. She is unprepared for the way he looks suddenly away in alarm, jerks her from the hole, throws her over his shoulder, and begins running. It is clear what made him so frantic though as the plane bombardment rocks the city, freeing her from his grasp. Mercedes is almost thankful for the overhead attack as she runs off into the panic-stricken crowd. Back aboard the HAMILTON, CNS Logaan Woods' ex-fiance has arrived and pays a visit to Logaan's sister Sarah in Sickbay after dropping her belongings off in her assigned quarters. Di Vinci mentions the seriousness of Sarah's condition and Karen almost begs for a way to help. When he admits that what she really needs is to be relocated to a hospital in Wisconsin on Earth, Karen jumps at the chance to offer to take her there. Di Vinci smiles at her eagerness, but reminds her Logaan would have to ok it. ********* USS SAGAN ********* NO REPORT SUBMITTED/CURRENTLY DRY-DOCKED **************************** Beaver Squadron Commander **************************** (currently vacant) **************************** ****************** USS HORIZON CO: LtCmdr James Burke GM: Ruud Visser ****************** The crew relaxes at a party to celebrate the successful end of the mission. The HIKARU makes a strafing-run through the fighters, then heads in search of their carrier-ship. Card and Goose launch HIKARU's shuttle to also engage thefighters. Card is injured during the fight. Ensigns Zaxx and MacKinnley, from the NIGHTINGALE, also press their attack. After a hard fought engagement, the fighters are either destroyed or driven off. Zaxx's runabout is fatally damaged, but he manages to beam aboard the Deyhui freighter. The HIKARU finds the carrier in time to see it withdrawing from the engagement. Ens Zaxx, FCO NIGHTINGALE, discovers that the Deyhui freighter is badly damaged - high radiation levels in most compartments and not much hope of repair onsite. The Deyhui refuse use of the Transporter for their rescue, so other arrangements are soon made. Goose and Card dock with the freighter. Their shuttle is used to contact NIGHTINGALE. Medical and Engineering teams are sent over and the evacuation begun. Enough repairs are made for the NIGHTINGALE to take the freighter under tow to DS 101. Meanwhile, back at DS 101 Roberts discovers that Alex Monee has been transferred to INTEL's ship. Steven tells Roberts that INTEL has the medical device to remove the neural program from Alex. Roberts, convinced that INTEL does not know what they are dealing with, delays their departure long enough to 'borrow' the medical device. With the Deyhui rescued and transported to DS 101 aboard the HIKARU and NIGHTINGALE, Alyza back in command, things settle back to a normal routine. But 'normal' never seems to last long on DS 101. Lt Goose delivers his report of the freighter incident to Capt Alyza, then goes to Sickbay to check on Lt Card's recuperation The HIKARU and NIGHTINGALE drive off the Juun fighters from the Deyhui freighter. Surviving Deyhui are transferred to the NIGHTINGALE for passage to DS 101. Captain Alyza returns to the HIKARU and Commander Canon to the NIGHTINGALE. Stuart brief Canon on the ship's situation. Ensign McKinnley and Lieutenant Zaxx meet their Commanding Officer. Afterwards Zaxx has a conversation with one of the Deyhui concerning use of the transporter. McKinnley meets with his staff in The Swamp. Canon and Ma'Kauran tries to talk Dr McCuen out of his decision to transfer once the NIGHTINGALE arrives at DS 101. After dropping of her passengers, the NIGHTINGALE spends a few hours re-supplying before departing on her new mission. **********************************************************
