Without an ancient death-demon to occupy their time, CSO Mercedes
McCarter and CNS Logaan Woods get back to more ordinary pursuits. Logaan
puts on a very calm front when he goes to Sickbay to check on his
autistic adopted sister, Sarah, but that appearance of ease begins to
unravel when he asks EMH Di Vinci for hope that she will recover. Di
Vinci admits that the University of Wisconsin has made significant
breakthrough and sending her there might make her chances better. With
that slim hope, Logaan rests his head against his sister and holds her
hand even tighter. As this goes on, Logaan's very ex- fiance puts in her
appearance, asking CEO Chandler T'krn- McCarter for permission to come
aboard to visit the counsellor. Chandler cautiously puts off her
decision until she gets a chance to talk to Logaan about it.

Mercedes, meanwhile, feels like she has a revival of The Music Man going
on in her head (complete with all 76trombones) after drinking the
equivalent of a Viking ship's year supply of grog. She drags herself
over to the replicator for a hangover counteragent, which dismisses all
but 6 of the brass instruments, then takes a shower and grabs what
breakfast her stomach will tolerate.  Mostly pieced back together, she
resumes work, checking up on the remaining Away Team and attempting to
complete the report she started while intoxicated. Sickbay interrupts,
though, to inform her that her ducklng has somehow made his way down
there and is perched on Sarah Woods' biobed, chasing away all comers and
quacking.

Roberts pretty much recovered from his attempt to access the neural
program in Alex's brain, talks with Fischer. He does not tell Fischer
of the vision he received from Alex... of Alyza, Fishcer, and himself
trying to stop the destruction of the entire quadrant, as foretold by
Alex. Nor does he tell Fischer of seeing a vision of the traitor kill
Alyza and Fischer. Alex remains in a coma with minimal neural activity.

Meanwhile, back at DS 101, a Deyhui female arrives. A member of an
'endangered species', she comes seeking help.
