CMO Chip finishes bandaging CNS Logaan Woods' hand just before EMH Da Vinci asks to speak with him privately. As the medical officer who tended his autistic adopted sister while the Away Teams were planetside, Da Vinci is privy to information that dims Sarah Woods' prognosis. Told his sister doesn't have much longer to live, Logaan leaves in a storm of denial and distracts himself with plans to join the Away Team still on the surface the next morning. Just as he is regaining his grip on his circumstances, the woman who left him standing at the altar sends a message informing him that she will be aboard for a few days. In an agony of love and hate over his ex-fiance, Logaan sits down in the ship Lounge to stare at the stars. CSO Mercedes McCarter's well-meaning twin brother, Yossarian, suggests that Logaan dance with his sister to relieve both their foul moods. Logaan doesn't welcome Yossarian's assistanceand storms out, leaving the piano player to face his twin sister's wrath as well. She then races after Logaan, enters his unsecured quarters, and catches sight of him in the hydroshower. Embarrassed, she sits down to wait to give him an apology for her brother and he responds by confiding in her about his sister's condition and his old flame's imminent arrival. Mercedes then confesses to having left behind a fiance and when she begins to give the same reason Logaan's fiance gave him, it rips the scab off of his fresh emotional wound and he half begs, half orders her to leave his quarters. In her own rooms, Mercedes gets a visitor, too. Yossarian came by to apologize/explain himself, but Mercedes isn't ready to talk to him yet. With her brother gone, she tries to record a report, then changes her mind and records an obviously drunken message for Logaan and sends it before collapsing on her bed. Yossarian goes to his quarters and, beside admiting that it is trouble with Mercedes, refuses to discuss the trouble his wife, CEO Chandler T'krn-McCarter, sees on his face. After a moment of quiet closeness, Yossarian suggests they think about a name for their developing child. After bandying about a few suggestions, though, they decide not to make up their minds just yet. Down on Minotal, FO Miranda Sands, her fiance(CSciO Jur Lehron), and planetary mediator Minuar Calvert finally get their ride on the sandworm Jur fed. It takes only a short while for the beast to carry them the rest of the way to Kinaresh. Once inside the city, Minuar leads them to a waystation. The courtyard, strung up with hammocks and roofed with vine canopy, isn't particularly secure so Miranda takes first watch, but it is so comfy the others have no trouble finding the sleep they will need for the next days search for Minuar's daughter, Malaka. ********* USS SAGAN ********* NO REPORT SUBMITTED/CURRENTLY DRY-DOCKED **************************** Beaver Squadron Commander **************************** (currently vacant) **************************** ****************** USS HORIZON CO: LtCmdr James Burke GM: Ruud Visser ****************** SpecOps XO Nathan Cady and CSO Kor exchange tactical ideas in preparation of a possible fight with the aliens.
