At the party, her spirits are further dampened by her officers' skeptical responses to her New Year's resolution to be a better officer. Dancing with FCO Zac Bentley and receiving a slightly more supportive response helps her rebound a bit, though. Also feeling much better, CNS Jo Carters reports in to the captain first thing. The counsellor has her eye on a few crew members that bear watching, but, on the whole, the crew's morale and mental well-being in general have taken a turn for the good since the party. CO Antonio Leeds records in his log soon after she departs a few comments about the current situation. The weak spot in the Cocoon wall having been too small for them to make their way back through, in spite of the research they conducted on the Katennai's method of travel, they are making their way back around to the only other known entrance. The Portal guardian ship, the AVATAR, was sent to look for them when they vanished through the Cocoon wall and since has made contact and arranged a rendezvous. A warning beacon was deployed in the ship graveyard, describing the dangers of exploring the vessels. They have seen no signs of the Na'Chem in general or the rebel Nu'Tsui in particular since the unconfirmed encounter before being bounced out of their intended stomping grounds. Leeds ends his log looking forward to CSciO Sudak's report on all the unexplored space they have passed through since beginning continuous full sensor sweeps. Yossarian McCarter and Carter Gillespie plead no contest to the charges brought against them for their shuttle hijacking and ask for a summary judgement from the panel composed of Leeds, FO Judah Gibbons, and Bridge Alternate LtCmdr Attwood. After a bit of discussion, the two civillians are left to Gibbon's tender mercies as an introduction to the trials and tribulations of command. All finally settles back to the ever-so-common day-to-day of shipboard duty. The next item of interest to pop up comes to Sickbay. Ensigns Corman and Taylor had moved a container of leaking they-know-not-what and now were suffering from second degree burns that showed no signs of their presence in the victims' skin. ********* USS SAGAN ********* NO REPORT SUBMITTED/CURRENTLY DRY-DOCKED ************************* Beaver Squadron Commander ************************* Branch Admiral Rochester P. Halifax ************** USS HORIZON Captain Tergin GM: Ruud Visser ************** Currently investigating a dark matter anomaly in the Katarian sector Jarek Malaar finally comes around to mention having children to his wife Trinity. To his surprise, she isn't surprised at all and she says she had been thinking about it for some time as well. When they are about to discuss it further, Jarek is called to the bridge. Sensors have picked up a single shuttle of Moropa design. Inside is Jarek's foster father, Ekul. The shuttle is tractored in and a very happy reunion takes place. Jarek introduces Ekul to his wife and they talk a lot. Later, when Ekul has left, Jarek and Trinity discuss the technical side of having a baby, since they aren't the same species. They decide that before one of them undergoes minor surgery, they just have to try. In the holodeck, Bill Patton's training program continues. As the program is based on an actual situation Bill was in, he recognizes a conversation between two Marines, even if it actually happened many years ago. He is absent-minded when Melody comes to see him. When she asks him what's going on, he tells his life's story for the first time: he was there and got wounded while saving a corrupt ambassador. While in hospital, he met a girl named Shania and when he was finally discharged, they started dating and got married. She became pregnant, but died during child birth, taking their unborn son with her into death. Hearing all this, Melody feels uncomfortable at first, but then realizes it has actually helped her put some of her own feelings at rest. Meanwhile, Anais and Trobul are outside the Embassy building and spot a manhole cover being opened. They hide at first, but come into action when the first soldier emerges. Trobul knocks him down, and throws him and a grenade into the hole, putting some of the enemies out of order forever. They then join Patton and Melody inside, and discuss their next actions. The enemies are coming in closer, and it's time to evacuate. The hologram version of Bill goes to rescue the ambassador but is injured. Melody and Orlando stabilize him and Trobul gets the ambassador. They make it safely to the evacuation helicopter where Bill ends the simulation. In another holodeck, Arkanis oversees the training of his new team. Or'Nonya joins him and shows his experience in the training that is currently being conducted. Later, Arkanis reports to Tergin and they discuss the special ops team. No'urdan doesn't know what to do with Blaze's revelation. After some talking, he decides to stay on the ship after all. On SB Omega, Cmdr. Leyson Ayden, feared by most people for his Borg- like cybernetic implants, is contacted by Capt. Davies, who tells him they will find him a suitable position in the Cocoon. The Horizon is nearing the anomaly, and Tergin begins to experience strange, unexplainable events. Everyone is scared by the picture of the anomaly. Tergin goes to sickbay, where Bill his noticed some tension amongst his staff. Whether this is caused by the mission or by the recent training, he doesn't know. Tergin tells him he has been 'hearing' things lately and wants a thorough exam. Melody tries to relax in the lounge, but doesn't succeed very well. While reading about dark matter anomalies, she is paid a visit by Jay McMadeth, who suggests that perhaps the CMO can tell her more about the science stuff. She goes to sickbay, where Orlando tells her that Bill is busy with the captain, so she continues to read. *********************** USS ATHENE Captain Demetrius Simms GM Kathy Ruether *********************** When the captain asks about what they are talking about, the group lie that Jouri is the one with the allergy to peanut butter. Ab doesn't understand and has a look that shows it until Epauline jumps in to say that it is because the allergy seems to be rare. After an invitation to join, Reese sits down and has a drink with them. Afterwards, the Hollander twins retreat to their quarters and argue about which one of them Epauline likes better. The next morning during their security staff meeting with six of the most important security officers, it is evident that the two are no longer on the best of terms. Chief Petty Officer Ketra Manda Nas'terk, an Andorian female with the specialty of hostage situations, Petty Officer 2nd Class Jayson Forchion, a human male with the specialty of reconnaissance, Chief Warrant Officer Anduin, a Zakdorn male with strategic operations, Lt. Heran Danita, a Bajoran female with the specialty of tactical engineering, Petty Officer 1st Class Kavi Makot, a female Trill as a gunner's mate, and last but not least Master Chief Petty Officer William S. Parter, a human male that is master-at-arms and the leader of the gamma shift are introduce during the meeting. Ensign Tyler Jorden arrives on board the ATHENE and is asked by Lt. Sands to help her with a device she is in the process of creating since Jorden has some science background. Krwn also joins the two in the science lab. Krwn does find some problems with Miranda's hypothesis of the device that it would not be very trustworthy. The idea of being tied into the comm badges and broadcasting its signal back to the ship is brought up by Jorden. Jur surfaces to the bridge and invites Miranda to dinner that he will make in his quarters. After being asked by the captain if he has better things to do, Jur tells him that it is time for captain to undergo Jur's now famous ink blot test. The ATHENE is now on their way to Talos IV. It looks like it will be a very interesting mission. *************** USS HERMES Captain India Baker GM Scott Bradley *************** Ensign Tek, the new CSO, takes a quick tour of the ship, and announces her presence by demanding all staff to attend a security meeting. She then gets a new assignment, however, and has to leave the Hermes. Hello and goodbye. Meanwhile, the party in the lounge is winding down, and a drunk Jessie makes the mistake of grabbing onto Merimde's hand. Merimde's falcon scratches Jessie's face, and an overwhelmed Merimde heals the girl as she blurringly sees Hor'hotep seemingly frozen. The bird attempts to attack again, but Agah breaks it up with the sweep of a wing. She disperses the merrymakers and prepares to help the hapless crew with their hangovers. This seems to be the track for the posts, so if there are any changes or inaccuracies, guys, let me know. Meanwhile, the new Romulan CSO, Ensign Vrek, arrives onboard the Hermes via shuttle, is greeted and led to the captain's ready room. On the bridge, Halifax is relieved by Baker, and the Hermes continues on her mission, only to come upon what the sensors say are three Ugandas. Then nine. Then twenty-seven. Baker tells Halifax and the rest of the crew to stop scanning and calls a briefing. Ensign Vrek arrives during the briefing, and the Captain explains the situation with the Uganda, and asks for suggestions from the crew. ************************* Condor Squadron Commander ************************* Branch Admiral Aleksi Kara ************* DS 101 Captain Alyza GM Don Ratliff ************* Cady confirms that the planet's satellites will be unable to detect the HIKARU if a high orbit is maintained during the survey. Alyza requests that Ensign Villeray modify a Class V Probe to be undetectable by the planet's culture for use in the survey. Ensign Goose is given the task of analyzing the probe's and sensor's data on the planet and preparing security risks for possible covert landing. The job made all the harder in that the planet's intelligent amphibian species, called the Gortu, did not want contact with the Federation. Ensign Villeray suggested modification of the Type V probe which would extend its lifetime and sensor capabilities to almost that of a Type VII Probe. All could be readied in twelve hours. After study and pondering on the previous records of contact with three Gortu representatives, Aniketos wondered just what the official government of the Gortu wanted. After all, all they had was the word of three non- government representatives that contact with the Federation was unwanted. How did anyone on the HIKARU know if this was really the truth? Aniketos took his concerns to the Captain. As Alyza and Aniketos were discussing this, the Captain received word form Cocoon Command that her First Officer and Chief Navigational Officer were being recalled for reassignment. Alyza suggested placing Lt.j.g. Aniketos, who had also been serving as acting Second Officer in addition to Chief Medical Officer, into the now vacant First Officer Position; pending Command Grade Training and confirmation by Starfleet Command. Ensign Villeray, formerly serving as Chief Science Officer, was moved over to the position of Chief Medical Officer. She was more than pleased to leave the Science station and move to what she was really good at: healing people. After completion of her shift at the Science station, she moved to the Medical department. Jenever was still in Sickbay, feeling better, but still running a high fever. Feeling good enough, however, to argue with the nurses that he should be allowed to leave. Finally in resignation, she accepted that she would be in Sickbay just a while longer. Perhaps the first patient management problem for the new CMO. Ensign Goose familiarized himself with his console layout and began calibrating the sensors to scan for military and scientific installations on the planet. He inputted data supplied by Lt.j.g. Hakon, who then took his station at the helm, on the Gortu. After which all he needed was the psychological profile on the Gortu from Ensign Kersh to determine threat levels. The Captain and her new First Officer, Aniketos decided to hold off any First Contact pending more data from the remote scans and, hopefully, the away team that would be sent down. Aniketos was gratified by his new position, though of course a Vulcan would never show such gratification. Also he was gratified that the paralyzing effects on his legs appeared to be fading at the expected rate. He projected that within twenty-four hours, the effects would disappear completely. Aniketos completed an atmospheric scan of the Gortu's planet to find a high level of methane, almost eight percent. A small purification unit, that could be worn around the neck, would be necessary for any away team. Aniketos introduced Ensign Villeray to the Medical Staff and gave her a tour of the facilities, as he turned the Medical Department over to its new Chief Medical Officer. Jack Kersh introduced himself to the new Chief Security Officer, Ensign Goose. He informed Goose that he, himself, had no information on the Gortu, but did suggest that Goose consider the Gortu a possible threat, like any other unknown race, until further information was obtained. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Kersh scheduled a session with Goose as a way for Kersh to get to know the new crew member. Then Kersh went to speak with the Captain, feeling that something was bothering her. He intended to offer what comfort and support he could. Ensign Marie-Josee (MJ) Villeray settled into her new role as Chief Medical Officer. After a short period of meditation, that was not exactly meditation, she was able to use her special view of the universe to see the energy fields that surround all living things, best for view those who were in close proximity to her. She was also able to see upon the planet below some hot points where something might need doing. Using this vision she examined Ensign Jenever and was acceptable of her progress so far. Aniketos offered some advice to MJ Villeray, mainly concerning Ensign Cady. After which Ensign Villeray showed up at the Counsellor's Office. Meanwhile back at DS 101, Jel'ar continued his negotiations with Rogue. He finally agreed to bur some wine and liquors, some food and some textiles...and some phasers or some Plasma Cannons. Jel'ar still had to arrange a cargo shuttle before he could pick up these items, however. Je'lar meets a Starfleet officer, Chief Ashton Smallwood (the best shuttle mechanic in the Cocoon), in the turbolift who offers a newly repaired shuttle, that needs a test flight. Je'lar take advantage of the offer, after all it is without cost...free...just the right price. Ensign Goose remembered the first time he had been made aware of his name's connection with a Twentieth Century movie, "Top Gun". It was from a flying partner, as a young pilot training cadet on Mars. His flying partner was later killed while testing a new shuttle prototype. ***************** USS COCHRANE Captain John Nash GM Brittany Newsam ***************** NO REPORT SUBMITTED ***************** USS NIGHTINGALE Captain Mara Nemec GM none ***************** NO REPORT SUBMITTED ******************************************************** Cocoon Fleet Situation Intelligence Report: by Cmdr. Ilu ******************************************************** A ceasefire exists between the Federation and the Na'Chem. Starfleet has still investigated allegations of Genocide against the Na'Chem. But have not released their official findings to anyone except the Federation Council. A small number of Na'Chem factions are refusing to acknowledge the ceasefire. Calling themselves the Na'stiu, they continue raids against the Juun. Diplomatic relations with the Juun are officially considered to be undergoing 'a tense period' and talks have been initiated to resolve the situation. There has been no official statement about what items are under discussion but it is believed that any progress to date has been negligible. Rumors are spreading that there are large numbers of temporal anomalies occurring within the cocoon and that the Admiralty are having a difficult time in containing the problem, let alone solving it. Although Admiral Fuchsia Tino believes she has come to a conclusion with the help of her top aids and Starfleet Intelligence, that she is not divulging yet. The Fleet Admin has undergone some major overhauls including the resignation of all Squadron Commanders and the replacement of two. The USS COCHRANE is still to be considered hostile and dangerous, and a rogue vessel. Any vessels coming in contact with the COCHRANE are to contact Starfleet Security immediately. The vessel is to be considered extremely dangerous. The USS NIGHTINGALE is to be launched as the Fleet's Newest Medical Frigate under Captain Mara Nemec. The NIGHTINGALE is a HAWKEYE-class PIONEER modification. ************************************** Amgine Sector Report: by Lt. Serin Erl ************************************** Deep Space 101 has seen much activity as its engineering capability's are undergoing a major upgrading. Also facility's for accommodating its new role as a secondary command centre in the event of catastrophe befalling OMEGA SB are in the process of being added. Work progresses slowly but the facilities are slowly coming on-line. OP108 is also being upgraded in the form of an orbital docking platform being sent there, enabling the base to cater for and repair/service even the largest of the federations ships. The base has seen its status raised as a direct result of the stable wormhole to the Andromeda galaxy being discovered in the area. The platform is taking longer to arrive than expected due to several instances of suspected sabotage. These moves have, as expected, raised some tension with the races in the area, though the Hetgarot seem satisfied that there is no threat involved and remain on the same friendly footing as previous. They are now holding a Conference on Noo'Ach inviting the major races from the Hetgarot and neighboring sectors. The USS HORIZON has been invited as the Starfleet and Federation Delegation. ***************************************** Beyond the Portal: by Lt. Michael Walters ***************************************** Peace Negotiations have concluded on Khitomer, with a peace treaty similar to the one that was in place before the war with emphasis on sharing intelligence information where it pertains to the opposite party. Fleet yards across the Federation have been putting in extra efforts and brought the capacity of Starfleet's Fleet's back up to what they were. The ship yards are now slowing their production of starships and focusing on developing new designs that require less personnel, as what Starfleet lacks now is the personnel to staff the ships. All Starfleet Fleets have regained their strengths. ******************************************************************
