Who is this person everyone's talking about. You ask.
Well, his name is Bruce Campbell a.k.a. Ash. He is the
youngest of three brothers (Mike and Don.) Born in Royal
Oak, Michigan. At the same hospital Sam Raimi was born in
on June 22 195_.
He grew up in the suburbs. He was facinated by acting
at the age of 8. When he saw how much fun his dad was
having performing in a theater and he decided he wanted a
piece of the action.
His first official acting job occurred when he was 14
in the play The "King and I," as the young prince. He went
on to appear in seven theater productions, including "South
Pacific" and Fiorello." Then his dad directed him as
"Chance Wayne" in Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of
Youth." Then he started filming super-8 fliks with a
friend of his.
He met Sam Raimi at a high school drama class in 1975.
They became quick-friends and began making a whole-bunch of
super-8 movies.
He got his first real tast of Hollywood while oing
volunteer work as an apprentice at Traverse City's Cherry
County Playhouse in Michigan.
He toook theater courses at Western Mochigan
University, but dropped out after six months.
In 1979, with Sam Raimi and new associate Rob Tapert, he set out to be a professional filmmaker. Together they made a film caled, "Within The Woods." It made $350,000 (almost as much as "Titanic," = The Evil Dead. Stephen King said it was the most ferociously original horror film of the year.
His next film called "Crime Wave" didn't do so well. He co-produced and co-starred as a egotistical sleaze called, "Renaldo."
Then Dino DeLaurentiis joined and agreed to do "Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, which was released in 1987. Once again Bruce starred & co=produced.
