We all know who's got the 8's in Marvel Overpower, but there are those characters who should get an 8 rating.  I'm here to give my opinion on who should get an 8 in each power type.  How I came to each conclusion is I layed out each person who had a 7 and eliminated from there.

        First, the Energy.  Currently held by Magneto, Prof. X, Dr. Strange, the Inhumans and Onslaught.  Who could possibly be worthy of being on their level?  This was a hard one to break down because nobody is really on their level.  Baron Mordo was my first impression, since Dr. Strange got 8, but there are no two characters with the exact same ratings in Marvel Overpower, so I thought no.  The runner-up I gave to Silver Surfer.  He just has powerful energy blasts and Galactus doesn't make an inferior product.  If I had to give it to anyone, I'd probably have to give it to Cyclops.  His optic blasts can Demolish pretty much anything and he's the only known person who can seriously injure Mr. Sinister.

        Fighting was the hardest of the four.  How I figured it out was picking two characters and asking "Who would win?"  The Marauders are the only team (besides the X-Men) to take on the Morlocks and walk out with what you could call a victory.  They deserved it.  The runner-up I had to give to Deadpool.  His balance of fighting ability and the fact that he's a graduate of Weapon X is just too much to go unnoticed.  The 8 Fighting I couldn't help but give to Nick Fury.  He's good enough to go hand-in-hand with Captain America and he's a fountain of experience, which is something that is useful in all battles.

        Strength was a big question.  Namor really should have kept his 8 Strength from PowerSurge, but Hulk, Thing and Juggernaut did deserve it more.  How can you ignore someone who tosses Whale Sharks into the air for fun?  The feeling down at the comics store is that Apocalypse's ratings should have been 8-6-8-8.  I agree with the 8 for Strength.  The guy can grow huge and squash you like an insect three times before you hit the ground.  The reason why he didn't get the 8 was because in Marvel Overpower, the top rating total for one character is 23.  That is held by Onslaught, Thor, Cable and Apocalypse.  If you give Apocalypse an 8 Strength, his ratings would too high to put him in an effective deck.  The 8 Strength when to Rogue.  Nobody else has gone up against Gladiator, Juggernaut and Apocalypse and held their ground the way Rogue has.  That is more than enough proof for me.

        When I first found that Professor X DIDN'T get 8 Intellect, I nearly fell over.  Now granted, Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom are probably the smartest people in the Marvel Universe, but Professor X deserves it too.  As I do sometimes, the guys at Fleer must have flipped a coin to choose Mr. Sinister over Professor X.  Either that or they've decided that no character will have two 8's.  I agree with that statement, only Promo characters deserve to be that powerful.  In that case, I choose Beast to have the 8 Intellect.  Unarguably, Beast is brilliant, but if Sinister gets one, Hank should too.

        Cyclops, Nick Fury, Rogue and Beast all deserve 8's, there's no question about that.  Others also should get some, butthat's an editorial for another day and that's the bottom line cause Scarecrow said so!
