THE HISTORY OF THE *NEW* ALPHA FLIGHT CONTINUES...



EARLY MARCH, 1999 (CONTINUED): One of the guards escorting them to the hangar turned rogue however and they quickly escaped (half the team being once again knocked out) and rendez-vous'ed with members of the Super Team WILDCATS! The confusing plot was revealed (sort of): The Daemonites are trying to get a time machine working (the one Alpha Field Tested and damaged a year ago) and they are trying to figure out a way to produce super-human bodies that they can "inhabit"(?). How the Daemonites relate to the various super-teams (Cyber-data, etc...) that have beat the snot of of Alpha remains to be seen, as is their relationship with the country of Gamorra. Alpha Flight with Grifter and Zealot of Wildcats, along with their gun-toting saviour from the Hangar, William, proceeded to a small island off the coast of Africa to find the Daemonites secret base, destroy their super-being creation program, recapture the time machine, and locate William's friend.

EARLY MARCH, 1999 (Finale): Synapse's bionics began to malfunction once again and Saphire Mimick came out of Reserve Satus to help. Our heroes plus the two Wildcats and the mysterious William split into two groups: Alpha and William took the ground entrance while the Wildcats entered through the top of the mountain. AF fought a number of Daemonites including a new type of human-like Daemonite. Finally Alpha made it to the top of the mountain where a fight between several Daemonites and the outnumbered Wildcats was underway! Alpha charged into the fray and just as the tide seemed to be turning Shadow Dragon turned on the rest of the team: He was posessed by a Daemonite! Transmutator quickly brought him byack to the side of good with the help of a little mental persuasion...Suddenly, the Daemonite leader appeared: Helspont! He began attacking our heroes and at the same time activated the mountain's self-distruct sequence! Just as time was running out Helspont slipped away to an escape capsule leaving our heroes trapped! But as if on cue, the rest of the Wildcats appeared in a teleport vortex to save our heroes! Everyone bailed out through the vortex just before the mountain blew itself to smithereens!

The mission seemed to be a success. Helpsont's plans (?) were thwarted with the recapture of the time machine and destruction of his mountain base. William turned out to be the super-mercenary Deadpool, the same person apparently responsible for the kidnapping of Doomslayer!

Alpha has been put through the wringer on these past few missions and Doomslayer is still missing. What could possibly happen next?

Early April, 1999: THE BIG CRUNCH! Nothing will ever be the same again! The Big Crunch happens May First...and there are some catastrophes that no one can prevent...

SUNDAY, APRIL 4, 1999: At approximately 9am PST, everyone accross the west coast of North America suddenly found themselves under the mental control of Gary Cody, Government Representative for Alpha Flight. People began to fashion banners and flags celebrating his election, and history books at libraries and book stores were burned because of the blatant errors that they promoted. Gary Cody had taken ultimate control of the West Coast!

Almost.

At 9 am Doomslayer, Synapse, and Spectre all awoke suddenly to find they had horrible nosebleeds and splitting headaches. Turning on the TV, they found that everything seemed normal...normal except for the fact that every TV station from along the west coast was now announcing the glorious re-election of Gary Cody as Supreme Ruler of The World!

The three heroes attempted to contact each other and the other members of Alpha Flight to stop this madness only to find that it seemed they were the only three people who stil had control over their own actions! the three of them joined together and proceeded to Alpha Flight HQ in Richmond to find it is now defended by eight members of the Original Alpha Flight! As the Original Alpha attacked, Doomslayer quickly teleported the three of them away.

They then proceeded back to Spectre's appartment to try to snap Saphire Mimick out of her controlled state. Eventually they found through a combination of Synapse's mental blast and Doomslayer's mental powers they were able to free her. The four of them then proceeded to kidnap the other four memebers of the team and repeated the procedure.

Synapse quickly invented a device to help locate the source of the mind contol and found it to be the Alpha Flight HQ itself!

The eight heroes flew to their HQ and handily defeated the Original Alpha (mostly through the use of Mind control by Doomslayer and Transmutator) and proceeded into the building...

On the highest security level of the building, in the room which was only accessible by Gary Cody himself, Alpha found what it was looking for, which was more than it bargained for! Inside the room stood Gary Cody, The Evil Dr. Mantis, The unconscious form of the ultra-powerful OMEGA, and the trapped astral body of Mind-Lie, who Jack Frost accidentally killed 6 years ago!

Before Alpha could move, Cody threw a switch on the wall next to him and announced "You are too late Alpha! My control now extends over the entire globe!" He then pushed a putton on his watch and a panel slid open on the wall next to him to reveal...Dark ALpha! Clones of the original Alpha created months ago and trained with only one goal: The destruction of Alpha Flight! But suddenly, just when things seemed at their bleakest - things got worse. Cody seemingly burst into flames and when the smoke cleared, standing in his place was the imposing Time-Synch, whom Alpha had only barely defeated in their last encounter!

A cataclysmic battle ensued and just as Alpha seemed to have the advantage, having mind controlled Dark-ShadowDragon, Dark-Smimick, and Dark-SilverGhost (while having knocked out all the other clones save Dark-Spectre), Time-Synch lifted his Gauntlet before him and yelled, "Enough! I shall find other worlds to conquer! Prepare to die Alpha Flight!" He then pressed a button on his gauntlet and before he was able to open a dimensional gate to save himself, OMEGA screamed as everything glowed a brilinat white.

The last thing Alpha saw was the horror stricken face of Time-Synch with a an expression that clearly said "That wasn't supposed to happen quite so fast..."

Enter the Post-BIG CRUNCH Era! Nothing will ever be the same again!
